I was pulled up in a road block by the police on Saturday night and they stated my number plates were illegal FFS. I was only cautioned and told to replace them or the wrath of god would decend on my unworthy head .Well not really but you get my drift lol. I was given a form which states all the legal requirements.See attached pic.Now this is my query, okay the fonts are wrong on mine (ish) But according to the form,if car is pre 2001 the plate size and letter size don't come into force before that date. So are my plates illegal ?

Read the document again. Your plates are illegal mate. :slap:

The police man is being very picky on your plates as they are not so bad the only thing I see wrong is the font which again is not to bad but not leagal as for the pre 2001 plate and letter size yours look correct its just the font which he took a dislike to.Do what I do have two sets of plates one for shows and one for picky police men

we got two sets of plates for ours, at the mo we have the smaller ones on oops

Base line is that you cant put any form of non standard plates on an extrovert body kitted car. Its always going catch the eye. The police will want to get you for some thing and the plate is an easy option.

Now if the same fonted plates were on an every day car, it stands more of a chance of getting away with it.

Didnt get fined tho did you? i got pulled for mine 2 years ago and no trouble since. Just bored coppers mate :P

Just had my new plates today, will fit them later if it don't pi$$ it down. The only gripe I have really is that the front one had to be shorter in length by 1/4" so it will fit the stock Nissan plate holder. But now as its deeper it will stick down into the front air dam.Which is the only thing that I don't like. But hey ho. :D

From what I hear on the grapevine, number plates will become part of the MoT soon, so if they don't comply with the necessary regulations, it will fail the test, moreover if you change them afterwards and get stopped, the police can force you to take a re-test which cost you money as well as a possible fine.

They are already part of the mot.

The test station I last went to printed out proper ones, taped them over mine and took a photo of each one on the car so they were covered.

My front plate s smaller than Vinz,s and it gone through 2 mot,s with it on :hyper: I know it,s too small but they didn,t notice :nana2:

You will just have to do as the copper said Vinz, coz lets face it, he'l be looking out for you now, and your Z isn't exactly difficult to spot. ;)
