Well i have a slightly different issue, (i hope) as we've had some pretty persistent rain over the last few days, i have been getting some water in the cockpit in the morning/evening when i use the car.

 

The water is actually coming out of my Boost after market gauge hole on my A pillar, After investigation it seems the water is collecting at the rear of the moulded shape for the gauge and as i drive forward or go up a hill, it spills forward, and all over my knee. It has finally killed the new digital boost gauge this morning so i'm not to happy..

 

Now my question is, if i had a std pillar, the water would not collect in the pod and pour out, so it is not the usual leak around the door seal or targa tops.

 

I've seen the drip tube and checked it works by pouring water down it and seeing it drip out underneath the car, so does anyone have a clue as to how water would get down the pillar?

Leaking targa seals, seen it many times where the water collects on the A pillar pods because of that.

i had the same problem - on mine it was water running beneath the rubber that is just above the top of the A pillar outside the car - it hadnt been bonded down properly by the bodyshop who initially did my respray. if you had a stock A-pillar, gawd knows where the water would go - out at the corner where the dash meets the windscreen? a few doses of creeping crack cure seems to have sorted it

Suffolkzx, quick question, how does the water get into the pillar, if you look at the metal work under the targa top, a drain hole is there for that reason, to drain it, and not let it in the pillar, its as if they expect it to leak...

Capt. Tolley's CCC. you can pick it up off ebay for a fiver. its a thin substance that you can squeeze into where you think there's a leak. the substance then sets into a clear rubbery waterproof seal. its only useful where there's a small crack, otherwise the lot just runs through like the rainwater does.

I have no idea how it gets there but the creeping crack cure is the best way, my bottle of the stuff was doing the rounds but I believe it went missing by some helpful member, if you search there was some pictures posted once of fuse board and relays from the drivers footwell that had water damage so I guess thats were the water goes if you dont have the A pillar pods.

I remember seeing those pictures..i'll see if my browse history can help

The after market A-pillar pod trim you have, is it secured by a screw at the top?

Hi Smithy, just as i started to write this to say "yes i have" i think i know where you are going with this....long screw..punctures pipe resulting in water leak...

 

Am i right..

The targa drain runs down the screen pillar so it may be the screw has pierced the tube.
