Well I've skipped some of the bits on there, like removing the A/C pump / Alternator, that sort of thing, and just concentrated on anything that is going to attach the engine to anything that isn't coming out with it.

 

Engine crane arrived today, so first thing in the morning im getting started lifting out the engine and putting the new one in, any tips on getting the gear box off would be greatly appreciated as i cant lift the engine and the gear box together.

Leave the g/box in and drop the front crossmember to allow the sump past.When you lower the engine you can get your hands down the back to undo the four top bell housing bolts and release the earth strap and loom p clip.

Going to get my engine out soon. I have a very big garage and loads of tool.

Is this any easy thing to do for a novice or should I get some one to help?

Ok try this one engine ready to been pulled out just the gearbox to go.

 

I can take it out as a hole lump or split the box

 

How many of you will leave all as one or split it?

As above, is it easier to lift the engine and box as one unit or just take the engine out by itself? I'm swapping the engine in a VG30DE (non turbo manual box) due to a knackered crank and thought I'd save a bit of time by asking here first.

im no mechanic and without the help of this site would have never done it myself but i done every thing on my own . i split the box on out and when putting back put it back in one peace.
