Anyone got any good tips on stopping a puppy constantly crying and whining, ive had him just over a week and its driving me up the wall....and he's keeping me and the mrs up all night!

yup, ignore him, i used to leave the tv on very quiet, also if he is young wrap a ticking clock up in a blanet and put it in his bed or cage, it mimics the heartbeat of his mother and he will settle, what kind of dog is it, where does it sleep, remember its frightened being by being took away from the pack

I think ill try that tonight, he sleeps in the bedroom and i try to ignore him but the mrs gives in and puts him on the bed where he keeps us up most of the night, i left the radio on today and went home for dinner and krept in to hear him yelping and barking...btw the mrs gives him so much attention i think that may be the cause? He is a cross between a french mastiff (mum) and an american(johnson) bulldog(dad).

ooh, got any pics, riddick is an american bulldog, i would never let him sleep in the bedroom, buy a cage and at first make him sleep on the landing with maybe a landing light on, never give into the noise, he will learnt that when he yelps and barks he gets attention, after a week or so move him down stairs and he will get used to it quickly riddick was the same when we first got him and i made ourlass leave him be

again as Al said the clock is a good tip depending on age apart from that i'd say it's just waiting until he adjust's to his new home

I've got all this to look forward to again in just over a week !

my mate has a british bulldog and they let it sleep in the bedroom and they have a nightmare with it now its fully grown, they sometimes have to sleep in the spare room as it has now made the bedroom its domain, and they cant leave it downtstairs as it moans all night and destroys things, make sure the dog knows its sleeping area at an early age and dont let it sleep in the bedroom, remember they grow to about 10 stone and if it decides to chase you from the bedroom you will have no option but to let it

american bulldogs are very hardy dogs, they dont show pain and water pistols do jack shit with these type of dogs, remember they were bread for catching cattle on american farms

I will try and get some piccies up if i can from my iphone as ive got no interweb in my new place(in work at the mo), ive got a crate/cage we try and put him in but we feel sorry for him and give in when he crys:headvswal hes only 8 weeks old and is 1 stone already lol

its not cruel mate, having him put to sleep at a later date because he is uncontrollable is cruel, this is what i kept telling ourlass, like i say riddick is about 9-10 stone and he would be a right handfull if i let him get away with it, make sure yourlass doesnt treat him like a kid when you are out, michelle done this and riddick went for me a few times as he was trying to dominate me because of her
