Are these the ones that Smithy does or something else?

Are they easy to fit? What do you need to do to keep the orange effect (when you're indicating, that is)?

Yes thank you grunt - already coming in handy.

Bit confused about yr comment on indicators. Mine look like this:

indicators.jpg

so they look (mainly) clearish anyway. Is this a J-spec thing? But yours is J-spec anyway?

(BTW it wasn't until I looked up NISMO after seeing your baby that I knew what it meant! Great website - if u know Japanese that is. smile.gif Oops another newbie... biggrin.gif)

Gio the confusion is my fault i expect.

you can get an indercator bulb that has a silver one way mirror coating over the orange so you get rid of the orange dot in your clear lens think you can get these lamps for side repeter as well as indercator

Grunt - aha - see what you mean. Thanks. Will look out for those.

Hi Gio & Allen,

You can get Philips SilverVision bulbs (silver looking bulbs that light up orange) from http://www.powerbulbs.com. They retail there for about £14 for a pair and are excellent! I've cleared my J-spec lower indicators (i.e., took the orange dome out) and have been very pleased with the result.

As for the clear wing indicators, Jeff @ ZedWorld has a couple as does Smithy @ Cybercraft, I believe. Should be around the £25-£28 mark for the pair. Easy install - although this is not speaking from experience ...

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Danny

Thanks Danny - good grief I can feel a wallet experience coming on. How easy was it to get the orange dome out? Cheers - Gio

It's actually not too difficult. What you do need though is a lot of patience and to be very careful not to damage the metallic reflector. I know it isn't exactly the way things should be done but I took my soldering iron to it and "melted" a lot of the dome away before using some plyers to break the rest off. The only expense you "should" have with this is for the bulbs or new indicator units if you cock things up redface.gif wink.gif

Take care,

Danny

Used long nosed pliers to remove those orange things in mine - took all of three minutes biggrin.gif

thanks Robb, Danny, Allan, Mark - that's yet another job to put on the list then biggrin.gif

Bet my list is longer than yours:d

OK chaps, just spoke to John at www.powerbulbs.com. Pair of 12v 21w Philips Silvervision indicator bulbs for my front indicators £14.75 inc VAT/p&p. But the locating pins on the bulb are offset by a few degrees so one of them will need filing down to allow to fit. (the original clear bulb has 180deg opposed pins). He says loads of people do this and there is no prob.

Side repeater 5w bulbs not yet done by Philips. There are some about somewhere but quality allegedly not up to much.

So unless anyone has better ideas, will place an order next week and grovel about with a soldering iron for the indicators and do a smithy with his orange bulbs for the repeaters.

(why am I doing cosmetics instead of getting on with the real to-do list? *sigh*)

Gio,

With a bit of persuasion the SilverVision bulb goes into the fitting without having to file the offending pin off. I know it's only cosmetic but the result is well worth it biggrin.gif

Cheers fella!

Jeff - damn - you could have sold me a pair at Solihull!

I'd like to see them sometime so fingers crossed over the summer. If you're down on the 27th (see thread) or when I bring her up for the engine / throttle body stuff..

Cheers

Thanks, Smithy

looks very nice - ta to you and ta to everyone who pointed me in the right direction.

As ordered from:

http://www.cybercraft.co.im/

(got some comments about rubber seals, self-tappers and 3 prong vs 2 prong holders - but have to say it's worth it in the end!.)

(now then, how do I turn them silver rather than clear...?)
