Getting ready for tomorrow

Right tomorrow is Tuesday, and im going to be finishing off prep work for engine removal, I've been over and over and over posts of engine removal on the z32, but im still a bit concerned about certain aspects like prop shaft removal at the gear box, nothing seems to go too much into detail, im also a bit worried about if i can get the room under car to bring the gearbox and engine out at an angle.... ooh well wish me luck, want this sorted out tomorrow ready for my new engine on Wednesday.

The plan for tomorrow

- Jack car at the front and put on ramps

- Jack car at rear and put on Axel stands

- Removal of all pipe work including electrical wiring from there relevant connectors on the engine to the engine bay

- Removal of Prop shaft

- Engine with gear box removal

- Anything else i run into

propshaft removal is easy once the bolts are undone at the diff end and you undo the centre bearing bolts drop down the rear section of the prop and it will slide out of the gearbox.

Mark the prop shaft at the join next to the centre bearing, undo the bolts on prop, remove the centre bearing mounting bolts and the prop should slide out of the gearbox.

Probably better to undo the electrical connectors before you jack it up, unless you're really tall and can still reach round the back of the engine.

Good luck with it mate :)

just take your time mate and be methodical. any thing your not sure of take a picture and mark it on the step by step engine removal guide.

when taking the engine out lift it a bit at a time and check all round the engine to make sure you have all the cables detached . then lift some more and recheck . sometimes it doesn't become apparent untill your lifting the car on wires and wonder why the bugger wont start once you have it all back in ;)

Best of luck with your adventure and may it develop into many happy Z years ahead of you ;)

Well, quick update, car is now off the ground completely, managed to jack it up enough to put it on ramps at the front to give me more clearance, and Axel stands at the rear, exhaust is now off, and prop shaft removed, engine fan and fan clutch is off and wiring harness is coming off slowly, god its a spaghetti junction on these things. surely there's and easier way lol. most of the small auxiliary pipes are off as well.

apart from getting the auto box off mine, pulling the cables apart was the main PITA for me!

Sounds like you've made a good start :)
