Ditto.

MK3 Golfs are not that great. I've owned one, and rated a Nova as a better car!

can you guys see any problem the nissan may have tho?

Anything i should look out for apart from bad rust areas at sills arches etc?

make sure its cold when you look at it, take it for a decent test run and get it upto temperature, check for leaks, listen for any funny sounds from the box etc, when you get back keep it running and check for any smoke, check the oil and water for any gunky stuff, make sure all the electrics work

just simple stuff like that bud

Mike

thanks guys. should be going to view that then the xsara before making my mind up then as theres not 2 many good words about golfs.

What do people think of cavaliers? What insurance groups are they and how much should i expect to pay for one in reasonable condition......are they a worthy buy possibly?

Just had a phone call to check this out: been offered this within my budget..........

MMMM, Not too bad ? If you can get a hundred quid orso off, thats actually a good buy. Should be able to sell that on as well !

Whereabouts in Lanarkshire is it ?

Alan..........

Not sure mate just a quick call to say about it, i was trying to get it to about 500 but was a no go, reckon 600 would take it away. 113k on it tho.........hm?

The MOT only until december is which bothers me tho was hoping for longer.

Mileage is sod all, short mot tho ? Do you know a sympathetic mot man ?

If you are interested in viewing, let me ken and I can be there if you want, no worries !

Alan.

I would have said the Nissan, but the Pug looks pretty good, I have heard of complaints the headgaskets go on some of the diesels but cant remember which engine it was.

My last daily runner was a 406 19TD that I managed to kill by towing the caravan, but id had it over 7years and it had over 230000 on the clock, so I have every respect for Peugeots.

One other thing I have notice about Pugs about that age is that they just dont seem to rust, so unless its had some shoddy accident repairs it should be ok in that respect.

Only thing I had problems with were the anti roll bar links, which I seemed to have to change every year for test.

Thing is you are looking for something as a short term measure, most of the cars youve put up would do the job, and its likely you would get much the same money back when it comes to sell
