Good news shortly forwarded by bad

I thought head gasket was gone on my z31 a few weeks back, water pissing out the side of the engine...it was running fine and got me home, I started it up a few weeks later and let it idle for a while, no water coming out but it did start to misfire by this point.

Started it up last night and took it to garage without any drama except this misfire. Mechanic phoned me today and said he found a split hose (possible that the hose was water off the engine and when I looked at it in the dark that first night it looked like it was right out of the engine) and replaced that before doing a pressure test which came back fine.

Then a sniffer test - all OK so no head gasket issue. That's the good news.

He said when he checked the plugs it looks like the plug is burning leaner in number 6 and the reading is 'not good' - all other appear fine, although he did say number 2 wasn't brilliant but it was number 6 that was giving a bad reading. He said the injector seemed fine.

Suggestions??

Tomorrow he is going to try a new distributor cap as mine was cracked, maybe from the water spraying night. Also a compression test. Sounds like the heads may need to come off afterall for further investigation, or maybe just cut my losses.
