RE a runabout car mate, cant reply on the wanted add you posted.

If I were you I'd grab a 97/98 mondeo. They go and go and for £300 will pick up an ok one with 120k on the clock and 8-12 months MOT.

Not the most exciting car ever, but roomy and comfy and will do the job.

Agreed. Revolting looking car, but very spacious, a nice drive and a good cabin. I prefer the older ones, but there are none of these about! LOL

thats a really nice one you found there si, think it look stylish.

HAd a quick browse purely at saxos there, theres a few old vts kicking about or a vtr even which would suit me possibly. Max 500 i want to be looking at really i think. So possibly be an ebay car.lol!

thanks for the help guys. my postcodes pa16 9he for distance etc.

thanks alot!

Nice find si, going to keep that as an option, would try get that for 350 or something if i went to see it. not the best of lookers tho is it.lol!!

No it isn't, but it's a cheap DD that you'll be able to shift pretty quickly when you come to sell it. It's a better 'look' than being a dribbler in the windows of a 'Plaxton Beaver'!

!! plaxton beaver.lol.

Was checkign out some pug 205gti's there, they are attractive cars imo.

just about searching the 106 the now. but will keep the ax in mind as a last resort i think mate.

Im just surfing pistonheads at the moment, yet to get on ebay for cheap saxos and the pug 205gti

just remembered, ive got to have a car atleast about 3-4inches from the ground due to speedbumps.

Dude, you're moaning about insurance, yet you're looking at VTS/GTi type cars. I don't get you sometimes.

No reason i was looking at that as due to the age the quote for it for me is coming up at about 290 average which i could live with buddy.

suppose. Just phoned about the AX anyways mate and i may be heading up tomorrow or tuesday to see it. Just going to do some more searches for other cars the now aswell.

cheers SI.

Plenty of cheap Vectras about as well mate.

Anything through this way, gies a shout if you need directions/assistance/menacing looking coont to come with you !!;)

Alan............

That would be not bad, but at 200 i would imagine its not the best of runners?

that exhaust would have your eye out.lol!

Thanks for the offer to check a car out mincey:D!

Nice little motors - higher insurance tho typical VW

check out the link at the bottom of the advert - the guy is selling a 4x4 Mondeo 10 months MOT - new timing belt - and its got alloys:dance: to keep the rude boy inside happy.

just want to say thanks very much lads for some help, heading out a walk the now to some of the local garages to see whats out there that they have.

Narrowing down to.....

possibly vectra

Polo

Citroen AX (not sure 100% tho)

If there was a decent astra

306

think these could be the best bet to get soemthign at around 400-500.

Sold my motorbike for 410 so that would be ideal to use to spend.

mate dont shoot me for saying this, but what about a nissan micra. I have a 1.0 run about on a p plate, we have had it for 7 years and has never failed an mot, mega cheap to run and only cost was brake pads. Very cheap and sensible DD till yours is fixed and you could sell it at the same price you brought it.

I had an old Mondeo not long before getting the Zed, the handling was noticably more involving and reasuring than the Zed is! Of course the Zed has a lot more grip and a much lower/wider, more stable stance on the road, but it just seems to gives no feedback what so ever.

Makes sense ! My mate drives a Micra as a DD and its never let him down once. His Trans/am is too gutsy for everyday use.

As its only for a few months, forget the image, just go with cheap and reliable. :)
