Yes Dave, i find that just replacing the 4 bulbs with 5way leds doesnt give an even enough finish, couple of dark spots around the top of the speedo and rev dials.

So i use some led strips, virtually underneath each of the 2 offending clocks, add a bit of reflective tape here and there and job done.

Heres a pic of mine in blue. I added acouple of red leds at the temp Hot symbol and the fuel empty, just to see how it turned out. Bit more fiddly highlighting certain symbols, but a overall a more even effect with the blue coverage

Could you do mine like yours :)

Also could you do the redline in red please :D

No Probs

If you mean the red in the rev dial, believe me ive tried several ways of getting that little sucker to light up red, but the dial face has a blueish coating and it doesnt look that great. If you stick a led directly on the dial face, you see the spot of the led, so it needs to be off the face slightly. The only trouble then is that not enough red comes through to give the required effect

Hi Graham

Would you entertain the idea of a visit and a while-you-wait conversion ?

Basically I'm thinking about the whole lot (dash/pods/window switches/auto gearbox panel/ignition/etc) in blue and I'm thinking that postage and my lack of skill in removing/refitting it all might in fact justify Wight-Link's or Red Funnel's extortionate ferry prices.

And my parents used to live in East Cowes so it would be a nice trip down memory lane too :-)

Possibility or bad idea ?

Cheers

That's cool !

As soon as I get the car registered (all in the hands of DVLA at this moment) I'll pm you to sort out a date !

Would you need any prep work on my part prior to arrival ?

Cheers

Hi Mark, you would need to be subscribed to pm, but stick a post up and let me know.

No prep required really as you will need most of it intact to drive down.

Graham, as you have seen my fuel gauge is damaged. Will i still be able to change it now it been LED ? Cheers

you will need to take the rev and speedo out, hot glue the strip in and wire to the 2 screws at the bottom of the dash to light. I use 2 strips so i can get the circular angle in the right place.

I dont mind doing them, but if you want to give it a go yourself, i can do some instructions for you to follow.

The only purple lights i could get are neon cathode tubes, 2x 10" long with invertor, really cheap, hopefully be here mon or tues, will let you know the cost of the extra bits in a pm later, but not alot so dont worry too much lol

Cheers

Graham
