How easy/hard is it to swap a like for like steering wheel on a jap auto TT?

Do i need any special tools? Anybody got a step by step guide that can explain it to an idiot?

Does the cruise control pose any issues?

Mine is a bit tatty and i've got a new one waiting to go in.

Straight swap, couple of little screws on the back/bottom of the wheel to get the front cover off, multiplug for the cruise control, then a 19mm nut IRC

Do make sure that its from a TT for the hicas

Thanks mate, How can i make sure that its from a TT? I guess that it will be identical to the existing?

Also what does IRC mean?

An n/a for instance, has a plate/disc with 3 grooves, TT will have a multiplug fitment HTH

HTH= hope this helps;)

It is from a TT with hicas, definately :)

After removing the 19mm nut you may need to drum on the wheel a bit to loosen it, some are solid whereas some come off straight away. Guess it depends whether it has been off before.

Don't fully remove the centre nut... when it finally does give way, it avoids a potential smack in the face!! If you bang on it from behind each side it often 'shocks' it off... rather than the brute force approach.

Smack in the face?? :mac1:

Can someone explain a little further to a newbie? I'm about to go and pick up a few bits then change the wheel, and attempt to change the aerial, and change the speakers.

I dont want to go to work tonight with a black eye...:wack:

if you remove the nut completely, when the wheel finally comes off, it flies off - leave the nut on a couple of turns to stop it...
