Last night car came to a standstill- wouldn't restart. Called recovery who could only take me & car home on back of truck- mechanic not sure what problem was.

felt as though dirty petrol (tank had been low earlier & I had put £10 in).

Got home, rolled car off truck- got in turned key & hey presto- it started. As it was 4am left it till this morning- started first time -no hestitation at all & drove to work- only 2 miles though.

Anyone got any thoughts on this one?

Hadn't been driving long or hard- is it still possible & would car restart once cooled?

Yeah, they can do all sorts of things, but a simple cool down usually sorts them temporarily, but then further down the road, eventually they'll start playing up.

i had this and it was my maf. driving along start to splutter and then stall. wouldnt start for ages then about an hour . start up fine. changed the maf and it hasnt done it since.

Agreed with Hellraiser, its been very wet in the last few days, maf +zed+rain=dont mix.

Check the connector isnt damp, as it will make a big difference.

Moisture will also mess about with the ptu. check connector and that it has a complete rubber sleeve on both sides.
