the mrs has (had) a wee ford ka and got a 3 page failure sheet for its MOT today so I'm dropping it off at the scrappy in the next week, she is keen on tigra's and I've saw one going cheap nearby - anybody ever had one (you can claim it was your wives to save face if you want ;) or know what to look out for when going to test drive it?

Cheers

They rust as badly as Corsas do. Rear chassis rails and rear arches. Check those out. Engines seem to do ok. 1.4 16v and 1.6 16v. Check for smoke and top end rattles on startup. Very cheap cars to fix.

cool, cheers mate. Gonna have a look at it on Sunday so fingers crossed it not a total binner, just need it for a runabout for the mrs

My mate`s mate has a tigra with 700hp, stupidly quick, he loves it and spends thousands on it , I think its a great women`s car though,

Get your missus a nissan 100nx, not quite a 300 but targa tops and very cheap to run!!

I did actually consider a 100nx for her, there is one for sale down the road from me but its a shed unfortunately and we need something in a bit of a hurry so that she aint left without any wheels when I scrap my...I MEAN HER ka :D

At least find one that doesn't look like an Airfix kit on wheels! LOL

Thats a horrid looking car:(

Not my slice of pie either. It's the headlights that never did anything for me.

I've had one and still kinda regret selling it from a runabout point of view. They suffer from the usual VAuxhall problems already stated but they're a great little car if you can find a good one.

give that man a :duffer: fu**ing hate the 100's with a passion we had the 300 great car looks great goes great, then the 200 goes great looks good, then the 100:smash: WTF were they thinking. IMO it was made to be a poor mans 300zx that couldn't afford a 300zx, nissan said i know well get a sunny and chop the roof off never mind it twists and bends in corners when you take the roof out.

Went to view a tigra today (not the one that spurred me to start this thread, I'm viewing that tomorrow), this one was quite a bit newer for not a lot more £ and was closer to home but had no pics with the ad so I took a run out to see it - rear quarter panel had a big ass dent that had been poorly pulled out leaving ripples, small crack on rear bumper, front bumper wasn't sitting right at one side, reg plate had a million cracks and the bonnet had a lot of wee rusty bits near the front that had been touched up...so I ask the question, 'when was the crash?'

...'its never been in a crash'

...goodbye and good luck with your sale :nono:

Never even got round to starting the engine after that blatant lie, also in the space of 30 seconds said I bought it as a private sale so I did a vehicle check on it...then...the garage I bought it from did the timing belt for me when I bought it - if you are going to be a liar then please put some practice in to make sure you are a good liar! :slap:

i had a tigra a while back was a good little car liked it alot however i did loose it driving into a corner to fast and smashed it into a tree, smashed the passenger side windscreen pillar into the passenger seat i just stepped out the other side will never be so lucky. in the year that i had it cant remember ever having any problems with it. was even trying to get my other half to get one not long ago when she was looking for a car

100NX...almost as ugly at the front as a Scorpio or 1998 Corolla. Rest is OK though. Perhaps the front could be covered over by newspapers or black binbags.

Bit of a longshot but...

Anybody know how to test the warning lights on the tigra?

I remember with my old bmw that you held the odometer reset in and turned the ignition a click or two and the lights in the dash came on 1 at a time and the speedo and rev counter moved round to check the bulbs are working etc.

Just want to check when I test this tigra for the mrs tomorrow that the engine management bulb hasn't been removed after reading some horror stories on my previously posted link

in vauxhalls you turn the key and the lights come on including engine management the start it, the light should go out. the only test i know of is the paper clip one which makes the engine management bulb flash telling you any problems

cheers mate, I found a site listing a 'trick' about putting brake and accelerator to the floor and turning ignition to position 2 and the engine management light flashes the codes to you, number of blinks relating to fault codes, hopefully that will work
