How do you know it's a bit of a waste of time if you don't know its advantages and disadvantages?

i didnt say that i dont know what vtc does did i ? ive read all sorts of articles but still cant made up my mind wheather leave it or change it to solid race ones

Unless your chasing really big power and a high revving engine that needs a bullet proof top end then you should keep it.

Brilliant post.

A question i have always been interested in knowing.

When i spec'd my engine i purchased 4 Tomie adjustable cams not realising this would delete my VTC. After realising that i then purchased two BDE aftermarket cam gears so i was running only 2 tomie on the other cams.

Could never understand why anyone would want to delete their VTC.

That was one of the reasons my previous build was rubbish lower end as i had no VTC hence why my car looked so laggy on the dyno.

think you had other problems too, my VTC is still in place but not enabled yet on the AEM.

how will VTC limit high rpm's as it's off over 5k rpm?

The vtc hubs dont hold out well at high rpm.The internal helix that swings the timing isnt strong enough to hold its position so most people wanting serious power bin it or run BDE sprockets.
