Evening all. My autobox is currently in its 'limp home' mode. I am as yet to run a diagnostic check on it. Would a non-functioning solonoid or sensor lead to this or is it the dreaded new gearbox time?

I have only recently bought the car and noticed that the 'Shift Lock' fuse was missing. I have since replaced this. Would this have any bearing on my gearbox not functioning properly?

Many thanks in advance!

I did do but no change unfortunately. Would the ECU possibly have registered a fault with a broken fuse and need re-setting?

Its a UK spec. A standard auto without power or hold functions. What is 'Shift Lock'? I'm not by any stretch of the imagination a mechanic although shift lock would suggest a gearbox issue, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

I dont know i would of thought its holding a gear. There are sensors which effect the box, speed sensor on the box it self and also dry solder on the speedo can effect it. Whats the oil like. Bump for you mate. Jefftt at zed world is the man you need to talk to.

Thanks for your help mate. There seems to be all sorts of potential gremlins. Just thought that fuse being missing may have played a factor. Is JeffTT the owner of Zed World? I think I need to organise myself a visit!
