right, was just about to go try to diagnose the noise on my z32 and i thought it ran out of fuel, wouldn't start ,put more in it, it turns over but not starting,

was just wonding if this could be linked to the noise,

 

well any one know the common problems? i have ran the pump alot and there is fuel the tank side of the filter, (couldn't get the pipe off the other side, ) its not catching at all, so i guess its either no fuel getting to the engine, or a problem with the igintion, any sugestions???

 

the z didn't stall it was parked up and then few hours later wouldn't start.

could be the ptu unit, it controls the spark. as your facing the engine its on the left behind the boost hoses, mounted to the timing belt cover, try wiggling the connectors,they can suddenly go although in my experience the looms the first to suffer,green corrosion etc.if the earth pin is crudded it stops it starting.Good luck

Try CAS Sensor (Crank Angle Sensor) there is a tiny little plug under the Right hand pipe going into the throttle body, clean out the plug and refit and make sure is 100% in then retry!

Check Fuel filter again and see if fuel is going through it, then next is check spark plugs are Sparking

yes cas is round, ptu is square. if no spark clean connectors on both units.small files,wonderwheels n something like a cotton bud to clean afterwards n see how you go. But yes sounds like it needs a bloody good service and too add, coilpacs are last in the chain

from your other theads it seems its stood for a while.

As mentioned before, PTU = power transistor unit, control spark, cas = crank angle sensor = controls when the injectors need to fire.

If the fuel is coming out of the filter brown then it has most defo gone stale. will smell like petrol but will have no qualitys of fuel, only thing is to drain the fuel and use it in a lawn mower or bin it.

I have spare PTU and CAS if needed. I posted where in sussex are you, i am here to help if required.
