Two months ago bought Lexmark printer, scanner, & fax including black & colour ink cartridges for £52 from PC world. Need new cartirdges now- cost for 2 is £40!! How can that be? Am thinking about buying a second machine at £52 including the inks so at least I have a back-up if the first one packs up!

Is there a market for brand-new machines with no ink!!??

remember that the ink you get with new printers only have half full cartidges ;)

i have the lexmark and i think it was about £25 for replacements on ebay and got them next day :)

Why dont you search for the ink cartridges that you can get refilled?

Buy those, save you money further along possibly mate.

My mum does that or buys from ebay.

For this very reason I stopped using my old Lexmark, I'm now running an Epson R265 printer and an older Epson scanner. With the printer I have a continuous printing system, which has a six ink side tank that feeds to the special catridges via small bore tubes. Each colour holds approx 100ml of ink, and I fill her up every six months or so, and I do a hell of a lot of printing (normally Best Quality photo quality prints)

The downside is that you have two machines, but the benifits well outweigh that problem! ;)

I have the same printer, how have you done that??

I only seem to get a few pics from it:(

Just bought a set, is it worth getting a refill set yet??:)

Depends how much printing you do?

They do last quite a while even with my amount of printing! Anyway you can normally have a refill delivered within a week, and you can see how much ink you've got left, so i wouldn't worry just yet ;)

take the lexmark by the scruff of its neck, lob it out the window then go and buy an epson. I have an r220 photo and it's awsome. 7 carts (2x black and 5 colours) are less than a tenner.

I had an olivetti with my first computer , cart was gonna cost me £35 about 12 years ago so it went in the admag that same day it ran out of ink and have only bought epson since. Cannon are cheapish to run too i understand

If you don't mind printing in Black & White you can buy a cheap Laser printer, far cheaper to run, my HP 5000 bought off ebay for £50 about 3 years ago is still on the original s/h toner.
