OMG with all my bits just about to go on order I thought I would make a start on removing the engine today.
Its a bit of a worry as we drove the thing into the garage, and now we have no idea how long it will take and if we will even be able to get it running again despite having a fantastic set up on the way :( so much can go wrong but at least the block and heads are built!.
Right until today I was thinking of getting someone like Jimmer to fit it all, but the only reason I bought this car was as a project car for something to do over the winter so fingers crossed me and my friend can do it all :).
I work on MX bikes I used to work in a garage in the early 90s but holy cows what a tough first day. I have the service manual disk thingy and if you flick to the taking engine out section it looks so easy.
It basically says do this and do that and remove Alternator, powersteering pump etc but does not show you how to get the bits off.... so frustrating ahhh. I dont think the engine has ever been out as every single bolt was soooooo tight.
Progress so far
Rad out, pulleys off, Alternator and power steering pump removed, quite a few pipes removed and a fair amount of the electrics disconnected. Took loads of pictures so we can work out how it goes back together.
I have a feeling I will be asking lots of questions over the coming months, I will post pictures as I go.
