Guys, let's call it a day as we're not exactly getting anywhere and the debate is evolving dangerously. I'm sure there are other sites for these debates, full of like minded individuals, and all going no where.

 

I think we all agree that moral and behavioural standards in the UK have dropped significantly. Let's do what we can to improve things and I certainly agree that if the police is ineffective then we should, where relevant, take matter in to our own hands.

 

More worrying is the fact that the govenment has, over the last 30 years, destroyed the manufacturing and technology base of the UK. The situation today is that Germany, France and Italy to name but a few have their own car, telecoms etc. industries whilst we have nothing. We don't even have our own energy companies anymore!

 

This is the real issue and what we need to fix, otherwise Britain will become a 3rd (or 4th) world country with no prospect of an improvement.

The government need to spend some money on geting more small businesses off the ground and employing people. When people have new jobs, they spend more money, more things are needed to be made to refill the shops, small businesses get new orders, need more employees, who go and spend their money, and the train rolls on....

if there is no manufacturing, then create manufacturers....

the problem is we "gave" all our manufacturing away.

 

one of my old customer was garrett turbos in skelmersdale and with the governments help they were relocated to romania to help the romanian economy??? with a loss of 2000 jobs a few years ago :( and this has happened to lots of companies across the uk of which lots went to eastern europe.

Well, living where i do in Germany...yes..the economy etc looks good but i know there are alot of problems here. The think is that they buy 'into' their country with cars etc.... their money comes back into their economy. Also im married to a Dutch woman. She can't believe how UK is for everyone who ever they are and where ever they come from. Netherlands, you have to prove yourself to live there.. not like uk. Get everything for nothing.

 

Im no expert, and have been in the forces for 19 yrs so have had it quite easy. I have watched and frowned at UK every time i have come back. Why do we have to be at the front of the fly catcher...lets sit back for a bit and let other Euro countries do their bit. I know i have taken the thread in to a different direction but i see frustration and hear it every time i come back. We have become a nation of complainers!! and not doers!! Why are we so scared? I dont know...its above me pay scale. Its scary to think that in another 10 yrs we may no exist!!!
