anyway i am setting up the boost controller on my zed and the low setting ie around 6 or 7 psi no issues, i use very similar settings to others who have posted up their settings

 

but

 

to get around 1 bar i am struggling, your talking around 65% gain to get around 1 bar which falls back to around .9?? cant see any boost leaks

 

any ideas?

Low Boost (around town boost) setting:

Gain - 15% (slow and gradual)

Set Gain - 0.3bar (only 5psi but you dont need boost pottering around town)

Max - 0.35 (no need to go into major boost if you do give it some welly)

Warning - L.15% (this Cuts the boost by 15% so will go back to 0.3 your holding boost)

Peak - This is the highest recorded boost you have hit

Peak On/off - Have it On just so you can see your not overboosting although more for High Boost

 

High boost settings:

Gain - 28% (Fast spool up big kick but runs out of puff around 5300 so you dont high rev)

Set Gain - 0.8bar (12psi as i dont want to be maxing out my Injectors everytime i boost and Cause everything to go Super Lean and then Bang)

Max - 0.9bar (as explained above)

Warning - L.15% (will cut me back to 0.8 bar which is reasonably safe)

Peak - My highest recorded is 0.97bar and Injectors are Maxed at 1.00

Peak on/off = ON

sorry to hijack but would those settings give similar performance on a Profec E-01? im still battling to get about 17psi, currently running set 75%, gain 16, start 15psi. thought the gain was getting high but if youre saying 28 then fook it i'll boot it up a bit! ;)

Zogg you have not mentioned one of the parameters.

 

There are 3 parameters you can change to adjust only the boost...... there are 4 other gadgets tho. warning, limiter, peak, and last boost..

 

set

gain

start boost (think its displayed as set gain on the profec duno why.....)

 

set: is your desired boost level,

you adjust this by turning the knob when in display mode. im hitting 15psi at 50%

 

gain: is your boost consistancy (sensitivity) if boost spikes lower this, if it drops off at high rpm increase this, you have to find a good balance, mine drops of about a psi top end.

adjust this by pressing the set knob button once it will then display the gain which u can adjust.

 

Start boost: this is the boost response, it basically adjusts when the wastagte starts to open. i would set this about 2-3 psi below your desired boost so mine is at about "120" 12psi

 

 

Kirbz, What i think you might be doing is actually adjusting the gain which will give you lots of spike but then come back down to stock wastgate pressure.

surely you should hit 7psi with everything off and the stock boost solonoids disconnected...

true, i will try that LOL just to make sure the wastegates are working ok

Might be worth double checking for leaks, I found a load despite being convinced I had none, was having to run my AVC-r at 90% duty (maximum) to reach 1 bar. Leaving the wastegate actuators open to atmosphere (risky) only gave me just over a bar. I know it's not the same kit as you have but sounds like a similar problem.

Every car differs, my settings will prob give different results to another car (autos have smaller compressors which will differ) especially if you have bigger turbos lol (soon come) Jimmer?!?!?!

 

I run about 15.5psi on hi settings but i always tinker with them, on the track i try to run only 12-13psi just incase. I tend to switch from high to low depending on temp and wheather im on a long straight and theres a porsche in front or if im trying to catch someone lol :D

 

to get 15psi with minimal spike and a drop of about 1psi this is what i use:

 

rough values as im always changing them

set 49-52

gain 30

start boost 120-130

 

I always keep an eye on peak and try to reset it as much as i can so i know how much its spiking, profec b's limiter is very safe.... big probs to greddy :D

 

I bet if you used these settings it will probably differ.

yes i used to think this was strange too, could be actuator hose size? intercooler size? auto/manual turbo? who knows....
