My boot struts have an annoying habit of closing on my head, can anybody tell me if they are a serviceable item or do they simply have to be replaced?

These things are usually sealed units. You might be able to get 2nd hand ones that still work. I expect new ones are expensive, unless there are some from another car that will fit.

Yep, these struts sure know when to slam shut - preferably on yer noggin! Over the years they do tend get knackered and it would seem that in colder weather they're worse. Getting them from Nissan is not advisable as they litterally cost a fortune. Getting a good second hand pair from a breakers will set you back anywhere between £40 and £70 for the pair (depending on the breaker).
