anyone got one or had one or even knows anything about them???, my mate my have one coming in and im very interested, gone off fast expensive motors as i only have space for a daily driver and have enjoyed saving some cash by having the diesel, i thought this may give me a nice ride, turn a few heads and give me the mpg im after

let me know what you's think

I would consider it a fast expensive motor rather than a sensible economical daily driver. What sort of mpg you after, its probably a little better than a Zed, but not by a lot.

Same power as a NA Z, but its a little heavier. Combined with newer tech probably give you a very similar mpg to a NA Z. 25mpg average, 30mpg on a run.

anything better than the zed, was only getting 50 miles to £20 in the zed, im not after anything that is going to be as bad as that, never had any money to run the zed with the fuel cost's lol

also there are decent places that know how to repair bmw's local, that was the main prob with the zed

had the petrol version 330ci sport. bullet proof cars. if you get the sport version it has all the M kit on it

minus of course engine, exhausts and wing vents

it is the petrol version bud, cheers tango

just had enough of high maintence cars and want something newer, nicer and standard, for the price i will be getting it for i can get my cash back easily if i dont like it

MPG wasn't that bad for a 3.0 car. Gearboxes can be expensive though. Make sure its all tickety boo on that front

had mine for 2 years and did 40k a year in it. The box went at around 90k. but i don't think that's a common issue, just unlucky I think

mine was an 02 model and it felt like new up until the day I PX it for an RX8.

I take it that it's an auto as most are

I had a 530i before my Zed. The 530i will probably have the same engine, if I rinsed it I could get as little as 15mpg on a trip, with 'enthusiastic' driving, it'll give you around 20-25mpg, and when I took it to LeMans and back with 3 people in the car and fully loaded it gave us 35+mpg at 70-80mph.

Great engine though, but will be quite tame compared to the Zed. However, dare I say it, my 530i sport handled brilliantly, better than the Zed IMO.

Edit - Oh, and mine was a 51 plate

manual with 60k on the clock 02 plate

what money is it up for......manuals are hard to come by

Great cars but makes sure its the Sport version, they come with better suspension, seats, steering wheel and bumpers, the SE version look a bit pants imo. Should do between 25-35mpg going by what other owners have said.

Lynda has a 330ci with full Schnitzer kit, exhaust all factory fitted 19” wheels the lot, absolutely brilliant car, corners like no zed I have been in and power too, makes the best of the six speed manual, Lynda bought it with the optional hard top too which we store at the workshop and when this is fitted it really does look like a fixed head coupe.

Find myself finding excuses to use as much as possible, to be honest probably use it as much if not more than Lynda does, ha ha. get one you would not be disappointed

The last pic is my other baby 4.4v8 six speed manual lovely V8 burble, pulls like a freekin train, you can pull away in third gear and the next gear change is at 130 mph on a private track of course

Despite those two and my Vectra GSI daily driver still could not part with me Z

Is yours eating back tyres Jeff on the inside edges,Parts manager got one brand new at work and he drives like a vicar but the rears run a lot of negative camber and it nailed the first set in 8000 miles!!

nice cars jeff, E39 540i - what a car! Always fancied one. Very rare being a manual as well :D Awesome!

Oh yes your so right, to be fair you can actually get four adults in and the tyres still never catch the wheel arches due to the amont of neg camber

Lynda is on her 2nd set of rears + 1 set of fronts + the ones it came with of course in 18k miles.

Cheers matey, yes I love it! my brother has a black 540i too with the tiptronic gearbox which is awsome. The real bonus is they make such wicked 2nd hand buys, although I have had mine a while they were like £50k when new!

Aye i know, big money when new. Dad had a 740i with that engine for years, was a swift car even with the autobox and the heavier car around it! A family of bmw's im affraid

As for your economy stella, mid 30's is easy attainable and as long as you dont screw it everywhere you should get 25+ during normal driving (I get that from my M3!) I know of a guy with a 330i saloon who managed 40mpg out of it on a run to santapod!

Simply an induction kit will unleash one of the best sounding engines in the world, the M54 motor in them is fairly bulletproof.

Roofs seem reliable as well, watch for suspension issues and premature rusting on front wings on some E46's. Other than that, not along to go wrong. Probably best to look out for a full history or AT LEAST the first part of its life. Missing history isnt a good sign!

In short lovely cars with an engine which was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list through 2001-2003 (that bit from wiki i have to say)

if both motors where to go for the roof ithink its something like 600 for the rear one and 400 for the front to replace
