Just curious what people can come up with of interesting engine swaps in the 300.

Several have V8's now.

I will start, always thought the Skyline RB26 would be a good engine but why not take that one step further with a RB30?

Also a Mazda 20B rotary would be fun.

Ok, just made a edit, say what car the engine is from.

 @ micra engine.

How about two Micra engine one front and one rear... but... from the class a rally car version

haha why the Diesel attack?

A little project i was thinking of with thread to follow ;)

Basically, i love zed's, i love driving my zed, i can't wait to drive my new V8 when it's done but that's going to 10mpg and i'll only drive it about twice a week :(

What i'd like is the complete opposite, a super light, super efficient zed that sounds good still even though it's a diesel, none of this clattering 4 cylinder muck under the bonnet and having heard the 5 and 6 cylinder diesels I could live with that :D

So after the V8's finished i'll be starting project Eco-Zed to take over from the metro next year :D

50+mpg and the comfort and handling of a normal zed and around 200bhp

omg that is a really good idea.

Wonder what the insurance company will say?

Im sure they will sting you for a engine swap as you prob know with the V8 even if it is a slower engine would probably cost twice as much to insure as a stock Zed

If you're going diesel what about Audi's V8 4.2 diesel? I hear they are making an R8 supercar based on that engine.

Depends if you can speak to the underwriters or not, my V8 is going to cost £850 fully comp per year so expect to pay about £500 i would have said.

I did think about that but then the whole point of a zed is that it's a 6 cylinder car and if i'm going to take the stigma of running a diesel might as well stick to 6 cylinders plus I have a feeling the V8s would be a much bigger engine to fit in.

That BMW 6 cylinder is the best option so far unless anyone knows of any 200bhp 6 cylinder nissan diesel engines?

I think the only engines that interest me for the z, other than the VG ofcourse, is the VH45de V8 or the Rb30det.

Both Nissan engines. Im not really a fan of fitting an engine from another manufacturer.

The VH45de is an amazing engine, the base for Nissans Race engines and the engine Nissan had wanted to use for the z32 originally.

The Rb30det is a custom engine, built using the bottom end from a RB30 R32 Skyline, with the heads and turbo setup from a later RB25 skyline.

Micra engine as its much better on fuel:)

yes out of the nissan march (i.e old micra) a super charger and turbo the best of both worlds

if money was no object i would stick an RB26 engine in with a RB30 bottom end for torque like the zed and a to4z single, os 6 speed seq box etc :)

how about a nissan titan 5.6 v8 conversion and maybe throw in a turbo conversion for good measure. The engines got 375 pounds of torque to begin with!!

I second this one. Quite a few modded Titans in the US with large exhausts and they sound epic.
