Hi All, just to comfirm its a faulty o2 sensor i thought id bench test it. Could you please let me know if im doing this correctly.

 

1. Put sensor in vice

2. connected the neg cable of my multimeter to the casing (earth) of the o2 sensor

3. connected the other end to the black cable, the signal wire. (red and white are for the heater? is that correct?)

4. set multimeter to the 2v setting

5. heated the end of the o2 sensor with a blow torch until red

6. got no reading on the multimeter at all

have no idea if that right but if you need new o2 sensors i think i have 2 available mate.

The O2 sensor won't be heat sensitive as such (although it needs heat to work) it detects the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gasses. Therefore, I wouldn't expect the voltage to vary as it's heated up, unless it happens that you are measuring the amount of oxygen in the blowtorch flame ????

Good luck with the new sensor, its fair to say, if this one is the same the problem lies elsewhere !!!

thats where i bought my 2 from but the ones on my car are basically brand new which i didnt know.lol.

but by heating up the sensor you are making a rich mix, even with little heat the sensor should change voltage. ill do the same test with the new sensor and see if makes any difference.
