Keep getting code 34 everytime i start the vehicle so looks like the sensor has failed. have checked the sticky with the relocation to the top of the head but dont like the sound of that. what type of job is it to replace the sensor? what other alternatives are there? also what problems will this give me if the sensor isnt working? whats the best place to buy one from?

to replace the sensor you have to remove the plem and intake manifold big job. Might be the loom but if the engine has overheater in the past then the det sensor may of melted.you could try putting in a resister 1M i think to cancel the error this would get you by till you replace the sensor/loom

thanks guys, i think im going to remove the plenum anyways to check the rubber pipe on the injector rail and get the injectors recon'ed. is there anyways of checking which has failed? dont want to put it all back together with a new cable and still have the same fault?

As for what affect its having - The car is in safety mode. Running richer fuel maps and retarded timing. Performance is way down.

You can do a tempoary bypass with a 1megohm resistor...that would help narrow down where the fault it is in regards to which side of the connector is at fault (ecu loom or sensor loom/sensor)

Sensor----loom---connector-(put resistor here)-connector----loom-----ECU

i recently had my plenum off, the sensor had been bypassed as despite repair attempts to the loom it was still faulty. If it`s the loom you`ll know as when i removed mine it fell to bits.Getting the plug off was a different matter, had to use long nose pliers with the handles shortened so i could get my hand far enough into the block to pull it off the sensor..the plug now resides somewhere in the v!
