The speed sensor is from a UK TT Manual and with the sensor out, held in a vice and the cog turned as fast as possible by passing a rope around it a multi meter showed 0.1-0.2 volt. My questions; what should the reading be?Is there another way to test it ? + how do you disemble it to inpect it ? Cheers Rich

it's ever simple, it uses a reed relay so it's contact then no-comtact, use a 5V with a bulb and it should go on the off

Thanks for the advice. Do you mean use a 5 volt battery and make a circuit with a bulb? If so how would i wire this?

?? reed relay?? No don`t think so, its a simple AC voltage generator and outputs between 1 and 5 volts ac, this by its nature (alternating current ) switches on/ of at a set frequency, this is what the speedo system reads and converts to a linear signal for the needle and other items ( p/s, cruise, autobox etc.)
