i have a credit card with said company, i rang them the other day as i hadnt recieved a statement they said it had been sent over a week ago and i told them that i hadnt recieved it (i only have about £200 on it), anyhoos went to etrol station today and noticed that id left my current account card in the house, never mind i thought, i can use my credit card, tried 3 times and it blocked my card (luckily a mate puled into the station and i borrowed the cash from him till i got home) rang yorkshire bank to ask why and they said they hadnt recieved my monthly payment, i asked why not as it was direct debit to pay at least the minimum payment, for some reason my direct debit hadnt gone through (dont know why as i have plenty of cash in my account) and because of a late payment they had blocked my credit card for further use, now i cant use card for 3 days which pissed me off as i needed to buy bathroom gear over the internet (shower, use credit card to cover me) and now cant do it for 3 days and i wanted the shower for the weekend

pissed me right off, i know its not the girls fault that this had happened but i was civil to her on the phone and polite and her reply was, "well make sure its payed next time", well that is just the icing on the cake, am off to the bank tomorrow to pay my card off and close the account

anyone had this done to them, ive been late with a payment in the past before and this hadnt happened, the payment is only 3 days late

I have a Virgin card that I used to pay part of my season ticket on (It had a 12 month interest free offer on transfers). Started OK then 2 months ago the Standing Order took 4 days to go through instead of the normal 1 day, so they charged me a late payment fee and took off the interest free offer. What made it worse that I didn't receive a statement that month either and they didnt even write to explain.

When I compained they said it was my failt but after explaining the money left my account on the day of the Standing Order they agreed to give me the interest free again and would credit the charges if I showed the money had gone out of my account as I said.

I think all banks are running accounts to the terms at the moment to not get caught with bad debts and to get as much in charges as they can.

thing is when i asked for another statement to be sent out as i never recieved this months they told me it would cost £15, its not like im asking for changes to my account or lots of admin work as in when ya change ya insurance, just for another statement to be sent out, i can go into the bank tomorrow and get a printout for free

im thinking of changing banks as i think my bank is shite, its only open 9am till 4pm monday to friday and thats it, and there is only one in sunderland and its in the town centre so not very convinient

I had a similar problem with American Express once. I have a direct debit arrangement to pay the whole balance on the final due date each month.

A couple of months back, I noticed they had charged me a fortune in interest and late payment fees! Since I pay the whole balance (or at least I believed so) I was a bit pissed off and phoned them to complain. It turns out THEY were late in taking the payment and had the cheek to charge me!!!

Now I was already angry at having to go through their stupid automated phone answering system - 10 minutes to get THE OPTION to speak with a live person. The last thing I wanted was a patronizing git on the other end of the phone telling me to make sure I paid it 2 days earlier next time!!!! What - it was their fault FFS:xxx:

I have come to the conclusion that all banks are scum - with the exception of First Direct. I'm happy to bank with them; customer service is spot on and their product/package range is excellent. And their off-set mortgage has saved me a fortune in interest plus; I'm paying it off faster than I reckon I could elsewhere.....

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
