I recently purchased a Hitachi MP3 player for my holiday, supplied with it were some headphones.

The quality of the MP3 player seems really good, however, even on full volume the music wasnt as loud as it was on full volume on my old Sony minidisc player.

I tried my girlfriends headphones, which were supplied with a Sony, and they went a little louder, but not much.

By purchasing a really good quality set of headphones from HMV or somewhere will this solve the problem? Or is the problem with the MP3 player?

Also, can you buy headphones that have a seperate volume control?

Thanks guys, Dan

u can get headphones with seperate volume control , but the headphones will only go as loud as the system will let it...... so u can have the worlds best headphones but you are still only going to have the sound as loud as the mp3 player kicks out

^^ yep, the volume control on any headphones can only reduce the volume coming into them from the player. Unless you get wireless ones which are active, but these would be large over ear types as they have small amplifiers built into them and also require their own batteries.

To be honest I'd be surprised if a better quality pair would solve the problem. What you need is a more sensitive pair, which you don't necessarily get by spending more. However you should buy some decent ones anyway as they sound better and you might not need it so loud!

im sick of tring to get some good headphones for my iphone i even bought some for £120 beats by Dre. and they were very poor so i sold them. i am using a pair of £25 panasonics ATM till i can find a really good set which are better but the bass just isn't clear enough i seem to get distorted bass

I got a pair of in ear silicone headphones - whilst they don;t increase the volume of the player, they do cancel out some background noise so give the appearance of doing so... it's uncomfortable to listen to an iPod on full tilt with them.

I got them from an Apple reseller, not apple but very similar design - may be wirth a try? Think they were about £25... although there was a range of them going up to about £80.
