if your a passenger in his car it will seem faster, it always does, my 200sx with 220bhp seemed faster than my standard zed, its all about the power delivery i guess and how it feels on the road, the 200sx is light and tinny while the zed is heavy and solid but still fast, just doesnt seem it.

it is running higher boost than mine...you mostly notice it at bottom end its not so bad at top end,i take it the 300 should b alot quicker

Z stock 9psi safety boost 7psi. most on standard injectors 14.5psi. most from standard turbos efficiently 18psi

Yes he does! Also which model of Skyline as they all weigh quite a few kgs lighter than the zed! Power to weight ratio will show your Zed at a servere disadvantage and in a drag race thats all that matters!

THink there is around 100kgs difference between the 2 cars so you wlil need an extra 25hp+ to match him due to your cars extra weight! And if your running stock boost you will have no chance im afraid

Stock for stock the Skyline isn't as quick. The couple I have driven were very uninspiring.

 

But if your talking modified , then any car can be modified to be quicker than the next.

its actually bit more than 100 kg

1540 kg (GT-R) (r34)

1410 kg (GT-T) (r34)

1650 kg z32

 

Z32 is 1580kg for a 2+2 TT

 

No idea if the Skyline figures are correct, but they are for the heavier R34 and a GTST is a R32 or R33.

I would say stock for stock there would be little in it, although would think a healthy 300zx TT would have the edge.

Is you car running correct? Are you in safety boost? Safety boost is indicated by about 3/4 swing on the stock gauge or roughly 2 marks positive of the mid marker.Standard boost is a little more, just shy of the next mark - gauges are not very accurate though.

Safety is 7 psi, normal is 9psi, but the timing is retarded in safety mode and this is what blunts the performance most. You might be able to tell if your safety mode - I could really feel the timing difference most. The car was obviously holding back.

R33 GTS - 246 bhp , weight at 1360kg (0-60/6.04*) (0-100/14.86) ******cks

300zx - 280/300bhp, weight at 1590kg (0-60/5.9) (0-100/14.88)

Like I said nothing in it, but personally think the 300zx is fractionally quicker, Nissan's own stats suggest (0-60/5.5) for the zxTT manual.

Well on these figures then the Skyline is over 200kgs lighter so that extra 50bhp that the Zed has is making up for the extra weight. So if the Skyline is tuned which is piss easy on them he can easily be running 300bhp and if you are running same HP then you will loose every time!

You will need to up your HP or loose some weight of a mixture or both :)

Im sure he said it was a GTS isnt a Skyline GTS a non Turbo? He should eat that allive, perhaps something wrong with the Zed??

 

the GTT is a single and the GTR is a twin.

 

GTS skylines are slow as they are so heavy for a 2.5 and i think they also come in 2.0

 

Thing that annoys me about people and Skylines is.... "OMG OMG It's a Skyline".... "yeah and?? the Skyline in Japan is a family car, it's like a Ford escort here in a way, you get 1.4, 1.6 plus others and then the Cosworth"

 

My dad made me laugh once. "Guess what boy? i beat a Skyline in my Granada" I am guessing it was a GTS then lol. Saying that the Granada is a Cosworth but even so they arent that quick, big heavy car.
