Hi all,

Is the little metal disc with the key-hole a part of the door lock barrel or door handle?

My driver's side one is devoid of the little "flap" that closes the key-slot and, being a perfectionist, I want to replace it.

Do I need a new lock or a new door handle?

Thanks

just shove a screwdriver in it and gouge it out and find out the way you normally do:tongue::tongue::rofl:

I should think that metal flap is still in there, just gummed up, perhaps a few sprays with penetrating fluid and putting the key in a few times might help release it?

Thanks Jeff - so a new door handle won't solve the problem then?

No afraid not, however a used barrel can be disassembled for the part you need and thus retaing your own key.

Will check in the morning as I am sure we will have some old barrels you can play with, you more than welcome to have one, pm me your postal addy.

Thanks for that Jeff - you've already helped me out with the indicator so I don't want to impose again.......

......I'll try the WD40 thing first and if that doesn't work I'll let you know!

Thanks again!!

there's a little tiny spring in there that's probably snapped. You can easily replace the spring once you have a spare barrel ;)

Iirc, that chromey bit just crimps on the end, ya can pop it off with a screwdriver, (once you've taken the barrel out) normally, by opening up the crimps, then crimp ya new n on...
