Been away for a year. Survey - Parts or as a whole?

Here's a link to my spec => http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=425

before I stick in the for sale section, though I'd put the age old "part out" or "sell as a whole" question to those of you who have been trawling this site over the past year.

Figure as a whole need to put another £500 into it to get to the magic 500 rwhp ( or thereabouts )

What kind of money have cars been getting over the past year, ones of this spec? As I've only put 600 miles on it in 3 years considering making space in the garage...

as long as its all working bob on i would say its worth £8k+ all day long possibly more but as you know it all depends on getting the right person through the door so to speak.

i can have a work with a friend who is sending alot of tuned cars into europe at the moment which is where the pentroof zed went :( but you do get decent money for them :)

Have seen Boomins car when it went to the rolling road a year ago and it looks the business!

Thanks Mike,

The £8K is encouraging. As it's set up for Track/Drag i.e. has a very high spec. full roll-cage welded in; it won't be to everyones liking for an "driver".

I was worried that the only way I was going to get good money was to part it out for all it's expensive bits. this is an option I may seriously consider.

I also think that if I can spend another £500 that there is a really good chance I could get it up to the magic 500 at the rear wheels mark. Which I figure, a certificate that said 'that' would certainly turn quite a few heads. - What would you recommend?? Do the work or leave as is?

Only driven it something like 600 miles in 3 years and as it sits in the garage most of the time, and my business has been losing dosh 6 months on the trot... It's going to have to go in Sept so that I can hit payroll.

It's sat in the garage since Surrey Rolling road... I just refurbed the OZ wheels & going to stick them back on, going to stick a new battery in, change the oil, fire it back up this weekend. ( start the process so too speak )

Any shows late August / Sept I can show it off at?

What did the garage say you needed doing to reach 500bhp?

It was Ryan at 2BarTuning. He's a MOTEC M800 specialist. I got the same message from Matt @ Owen Developments a couple years ago.

simple Fueling issue.

up-rated fuel pump (mine is the original from 1990 ), Fuel pressure regulator and a Wide Band Gauge and probably new lines/filters would probably do it.

I think it was around £300 - £350 for the parts and another £150 to get it mapped at a track and then dyno'd again.

big numbers alway make a sale easier. worth spending the extra money as it will make it alot easier to sell.

tbh mate, £100 on a walbro pump, £80 on a nismo FPR and a remap should see you right as the oem fuel lines are more than enough for 500 rwhp

also you dont "need" a wideband, its a nice to have but not needed, its more to map and monitor your car rather than to increase power

but tbh if i was looking for a nice 300 with decent power it wouldnt bother me or my wallet whether it was 480 or 500 rwhp so i wouldnt spend the money if your not going to keep it as i dont think its gonna add much value to the asking price.

writing could be on the wall.

got email from the tuner... says that other than for a bit of fun, would be wasting my time/money chasing after some big number if all I'm going to do is sell.

"part it out" for the biggest return, he says. Anyone Agree??

I'm only about 2 - 4 months from seeing my business fail... after 10 years trading... it's been a slow death over past year... :(

so although not a pretty thought, need to look at all options.

you will always get more breaking it up but its hard work and time consuming and i think in your cars case you may get decent money as it is whole so if it was me i would try that first, even if you stick it up for more say £10k to see if you get any bites, as i said i can pass your details on so its advertised around europe who are prepared to pay big bucks for tuned cars

Sorry to hear about your business Rob :(

All the best with whatever you do with your zed.. I have seen this zed in the flesh, and the NSX.. Very, very nice :) Wish I had the budget for it, as I am currently zedlesss :(

All the best, Ian ;)

Firstly I assumed I could not sell or swap which is why my other message was removed because I offered a swap, with a subscribed member

It strikes me that your rule that registered members cannot buy from subscribed members is just plain silly, and is not in the best interests of subscribed members, the comittee should probably take a look at this one.

If I were to sunscribe to this forum I would not be too happy if my business was going down the tube and a registered member was not allowed to contact me who might be able to help in some way..........

The post requested a mobile no, and/or e mail address this was a clear intention to possibly trade hence post removed, the subject you have raised has been debated many times and was decided it is best for subscribed members the way things are, plus registered members are allowed to post a reply in certain sale sections to my knowledge i trust this sheds some light on the matter and the thread can now continue on it's original track !

Thats fair enough thanks Chris

you like to treat this club as some sort of joke and laughing and arguing at highly respected mods will gain you no friends:nono:

Actually I think you will find that I do not make flippant posts, and I will make a conscious decision not to take the bait of your so called great moderator as I think his rather sinister motives are well documented on these forums..... read between the lines my friend.....

yet another thread gone off topic, thread closed, any further arguments of this sort and you will recieve a ban, you have been warned
