Does anyone know how to turn off the remove function on the address bar? Every time I click on the down arrow, the last visited address appears followed by others I have visited as per normal IE, bit IE8 has a red cross next to each one right where you'd normally click as if to select. Can this be disabled because I keep inadvertently clicking on it and removing the address that I need and it's driving me up the wall.

Cheers

Yeh, you just go to Ctrl panel > Add/remove programs > remove Internet explorer

and then you download and install Firefox.

Job done!

I don't actually like firefox...one of these strange people that just don't get on with it.

I'm a child.

There are so many choices out there mate...

Firefox

Google Chrome

Safari

Opera

And alot more!

I'm a child.

lol.. Seriously though mate, give firefox another go. It doesn't suffer from the insecurity issues the ie has and is a much better browser. The only problem I've noticed with it is that when you first open it up it can take ages to load. Once loaded though, its much faster than IE8. Plus you can download widgets that can for example; remove all the advertising on a web page, which is very nice.

Firefox is great for the day to day stuff and the add-ons are really useful.

Opera is pretty good too, Safari is ok. Don't like Chrome at all.

Unfortunately IE is the only one that can do certain things properly, my work WebMail for a start. It's shite on anything but IE!

Thats poor compatablity design by the webmail developers, rather than a browser issue.

No, it's "Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access" webmail.

Not the cruddy ISP style webmails.

Only IE implements it correctly.

ahh..outlook webmail...In that case thats deliberate poor compatablity design by the webmail developers so that it only works with their own browser !

firefox is great for work as you bypass the proxy with it and can view everything

uninstall it and install ie7 fella.

I agree with takemotothepub, IE8 is such a pain in the arse, I installed it, then re-stored my system straight back when I realised it was gonna be another user-unfriendly with features nobody really needs. Stick to IE7 if you can mate.
