Where have you put the ballasts? I'm really struggling. I was going to put them under the headlight panel however they are to thick and won't fit! The instructions say NOT to allow the ballast to touch metal! Which is really cutting down the places I can put them.

This should be a really easy job :headvswal

Why dont you fit a piece of rubber between it and the metal then mount it?

My HIDs are from Dan, and i fitted them under the headlight panel - just!

They will go there and they will use existing screw holes too, no need for drilling etc........ The wires are just long enough to stretch.

When i took my bumper off i mounted them somewhere else however i ran for atleast a year with them under the panel.

Unless Dan changed his supplier and they are different to mine then it can be done mate.

HTH :)

cheers peeps. I'm struggling to get the headlights off, so think i'll go with craigs idea and stick a rubber mat between them and bolt them under the headlight panel.

thats good to know, wonder why the instructions say not to touch metal?

Aye i know its saying that, i'm just saying i too bought mine from DTA and mounted them straight to metal with no probs at all.

I can't see why you can't fit em to metal, its not like its all exposed, its in a metal box

Well anyway ultimately its upto you but i did'nt have any probs and it would certainly be alot easier for you.

Isaac :)

Mine are also mounted to Metal, and i have had them on there for about 6 months no issue

Every HID Ballast I have ever fitted or ever seen fitted has been fixed to some sort of metal part of the car. The cases are certainly not Live, Im not sure why they would say not to mount them in that way.

In fact most kits come with metal brackets to mount the ballasts.

I've had 3 or 4 HID kits on various cars and never heard of not fitting them to metal - as legrath states you get a metal bracket which the ballast slides into anyway.

Guys,

You can safely mount the ballasts in direct contact with metal ... nothing will happen as the ballasts are internally shielded. The way it is stated in my fitting instructions:

"Despite the fact that the ballasts are earthed it is advisable not to allow the ballast housing to get into direct contact with any metal parts."

If you're worried just use the double sided adhesive pads (included with the HID kits) to mount the ballasts.

You CAN mount the ballasts underneath the headlights and the leads are just long enough to reach under the nose panel (between the headlights).

Any further question - you know where to find me! ;)

Good day to you all.

Dan

Thanks for clearing that up Dan. I would have installed them by now, if it wasn't for this bloody rain!
