Just thought i'd pipe up and say 'ello. Bought my first zed about a week ago, pics attached. I'm guessing it might have belonged to a club member at some point cos its got a 300zx.co.uk sticker on it (not sure if it was put on by the guy I bought it off) So if anyone recognises it let me know!

Its the jap import manual TT. Really happy with it so far having moved up from a 1.2 corsa... bit of a difference. Had a bit of a hairy moment in the wet but otherwise absolutely lovin it!

Not sure if this is the right place but have a few questions if anyone can help -

Firstly my clock isnt working, my o/h hasnt checked the fuses yet but on all the ones we looked at none of the clocks worked... is it a known fault and if so is it easily rectifiable?

Is cruise control able to be fitted and what is needed?

Are there any instructions on how to remove the dash as its been converted to blue lights and now my fuel warning light doesnt come on....?

Fuel filler cap is a bit dodgy, have to press the lever down about 3 or 4 times before it works. Is this a known fault? If so how can I fix?

Also brakes are a lil bit shocking.... what sort of upgrades are normally done? Any suggestions?

Thanks guys and sorry for all the Q's :)

Lovely looker mate . Dont know much about mechanics but I'm sure you will get all the help you need , The clocks are a common fault just about £20 for a second hand one

Anyway welcome and hope you enjoy :D:D

just joined myself so thought i would say hi the car looks sweet:smash: not to sure on your brakes mine have always been good but have just bought a donner that had red stuff pads and i think ebc grooved and vented discs alround guys at the brakers that i got from said it stopped as fast in it went so expecting good things think that it pretty much a standard upgrade from what i can gather and the purches of braided hoses im told is worth the money also

Hi and welcome....

Clocks are prone to go bang, have a look at zedworld in the traders section, they can do 2nd ones.

Dash removal, i take it your talking about the speedo consul, its just a matter of a few screws, 3 under each pods to the side , a few underneath and 2 to the top. Check the bulbs, if its been converted to show blue bulbs, may just be a bulb out.

Cruie control was standard on TT's and most imports apart from some non turbos.

Fuel filler cap, becomes sticky over time, a bit of wd40 or silicone spray should sort, or may be a stretched cable. need to investigate.

Standard brakes can be poo, either upgrade to bigger discs and pads.

or just give the brakes a decent overhaul, new pads, new grease, and good bleeding with new fluid.

Lovely zed you have, and its black and its manual...........

The best option.

Anything else you want help on, just pop up a thread, we are here to help.

Welcome Mate:D!!

Ok thanks everyone, v helpful, & glad you like the car.

Stu - thanks for the tips, I agree black and manual is best, although saw one in a nice smoky grey colour for sale a few weeks back, shame it was a bit of a dog.

Anyway in mine theres just a blanking panel where the cruise control should be. Strange as like you say I thought it was standard. Just wondered if its easy enough to fit if I wanted to.

For discs and pads is there a preferred upgrade or is it advisable to upgrade the calipers too? If so any tips on the cheapest decent option - are K-Sports the way forward?

Thanks again

K-Sports are a great option and a good price. They also get great reports.

There are plenty of brake options but IMO the K-Sports are the best value for your money.

Alot of people upgrade to GTR Brembo's - that is probably the best 2nd hand option.

Cheers,

Isaac

welcome mate. if you need better brakes high-spec is the way to go IMO.

Welcome mate and nice Z , there is a thread somewhere on a repair that can be done to the clock display , as said though there cheap to buy 2nd hand so prob best option ,

Chris :)

Welcome to the site bud

Very good car. i know it quite well and its very tidy and the best colour to, never been to keen on the alloys though.

As for the brake upgrade. I also have the ksports on and they are a very good bit of kit. all you have to do is tap the brake and your head will hit the window screen

Just under 2K for the fronts (8pots) and the rears (6pots) thats with the pads new braded brake lines and 356mm discs all round
