Any surfers on here? No way.........dude

I am ok at surfing, biggest wave ive surfed was about 10ft, and it picked me up and slammed me onto spin cycle on full speed.

But this is insane, you have to be very very good or completely bonkers.

At a place called Jaws in Hawaii,

Other youtube threads state it was 64ft high.

You mess with mother nature and its game over.............

enjoy

That looks like one hell of a buzz. I would love to give that a go, but unlike other adrenaline fixes I've tried you need to be bloody good at it. It's easy to jump out of a plane, but that sh@t takes skills

i think that's Laird hamilton...saw a documentary on it a few years back (Riding Giants) he lives quite close to that surf point and worked out you need to be towed in to ride it basically invented the tow-in surfing...couple of his mates got busted up in the filming as i recall

In the filmed coverage of this event in the motion picture Riding Giants, Darrick Doerner, pilot of the tow-in watercraft pulling the wave-bound Hamilton, said he had strong misgivings about towing him into the huge wave because it looked un-ridable and possibly could be a 'killing' wave. Doerner, fearing for Hamilton's life at the time, poignantly said "I thought, 'Don't let go of the rope..' . . . then, I looked back at the tow rope, . . . . . and, it was too late . . . . . Laird had already let go of the tow rope and was in the wave . . . . . there was nothing I could do for him at that point." The fearless Hamilton admitted afterward that he was excited about the forming wave around him, disregarded the danger, and was pushing himself to drive to the "max, max, max, max".

Laird Hamilton cheats. He uses a hydrofoil on his big wave boards which makes things a lot easier. For really insane watermen, you have to go a long way to beat Mike Stewart (10 times World Champion body boarder). He surfs big waves (cloud breaks) on a body board.

Done it all my life (well from 8 years old till i was 19) until I moved to northern ireland its one of the most pleasureble relaxing and exciting sports I've ever done.

Yeah them boys take it to extreme but sepouse if you actually are there with a surf board you have to give it a go at list once.. I would, you only live once!
