Hi Peeps i have been sent some pics in the RAR format and wish to pass them on to a third party.

Does anybody know how to change them to winzip etc?

RAR files are used by a program called WinRAR. Have a look on google for a download. That said, winzip should open them.

Yeh i want to send them to a third party but they dont have winrar to open them on their works PC only winzip

So i was wondering if i could somehow convert them so he could veiw.

Thinking about it, i'm pretty sure that windows xp and vista can read/open RAR's by default.

Hi Anthony i didnt think it did becouse when i opened them i got a reminder saying my trial period for winrar was over.But its been saying that for about 8 months now:rofl:

Win rar or zip as far as i'm aware is just the extraction tool to convert it from it's compressed rar file format to say jpg etc (if talking about a pic)

 

So i'm pressuming if you use what ever software you have to extract the file in to the format it was created in then will show as a normal readable file and can be sent to you're friend

 

am sure someone will correct me soon if i'm wrong but thats the way i thought it worked and have used win rar and zip , to extract numerous avi files

WHOO WHOO sorted thanks all i converted them and saved them now they are normal size with good res.:D

The problem is its timing out so will have to post a couple of times

No they cant, Windows can only open ZIP's

Extract the files (right click, extract to folder) Then right click on the folder it just created and do Add to Archive, and change it to .ZIP

Would be good if you could make it to one, have also pm'd fastredz to see if he intend's going maybe you could organise a car share or somin ? if you can get the time outta work and have spare funsd's left over
