Ok, maybe not a technical thing more than a query, when the engine is turned off, after a good long drive, theres a sort of a 'pshhh' noise coming from the engine bay as she cools down, along with the usual ticking, very quiet, can barely hear it, lasts only for about half a second, and occurs every 2 seconds roughly, I'm just wondering is it a normal thing? Is it a leak in a hose? What could it be? I'm not concerned at the moment, but I'm trying to pinpoint it and cant really cause it was dark when I got back and no external light.

Ah nice one, hopefully its only something small that, will have a look tomorrow, was thinking sounded like something that had a leak but at the same time there was no reading on the temp gauge which highlighted anything major. Thanks.

top up your system with coolant or water to the brim as you may find alot of it has now boiled up and your running a tad low on water!

Also Mikey is correct and you should follow his suggestion as well!

Ah good point, didnt think of the fact that the water would be after running low if that is the problem. Going checking the engine in detail anyway tmw, well as regards fluids and stuff anyway, so the coolant will be one of the things I'd have been checking regardless.

I had a similar problem and it was a small leak dripping down on to the hot exhaust, hence the occasional noise. Open the bonnet and look for small puffs of steam
