Ok guys my MOT is going to be due in august but my engine is knocking....i t hink this would stop it from passing an mot am i right........couple of light problems also that i think would fail the mot and also........windscreen jets not working...could i fail an mot due to this?

Think im just over reacting as i have these niglay problems so close to MOT time.

Lights and washers for sure are a fail, not sure about the engine.

Maybe bad earth for the lights and blown fuse for the washers.

Do you know where abouts the fuse is located on a UK tt for the washers mate? and the type of fuse?

Drivers foot well right hand side. Bayonet type. Look in faq in electrical.

As a tester id be reluctant to rev a knocking engine for a smoke test in case it lets go but its up to the tester to decide.

agree with jimmer on that one knocking engine would be a refuse to test situation.

Why mot it with cronic engine problems? You dont want to be driving it around like that or you will shortly find yourself on the back of an AA truck when the oil pressure drops and the engine seizes or shoots a rod out the side.

Because i cant get it to jeff on the 22nd august and the mot is up in august so i would be driving it to him iin hopefully september with no MOT so was thinking if i could get it done before it goes down there.

If it's booked in with Jeff as MOT work you are fine to drive it there as long as you are insured. Although you may be stopped by the fuzz, but as long as you can confirm where you are taking it, ie; it's booked in, then you'll be fine.

that's the way i thought it worked also , they may ring to confirm though

yep lights and washer jets are checked and part of the test

AA recovery. Drive it 10+ miles from home, Phone em up, tell them its started making a noise, they come look at it and trailer it to a garage of your choice (ie. Zedworld).

 

Lots of people get their cars taken to Specialist garages that way.

would they take it to the garage and allow me to just go back home??

 

as it would save me a 6hour journey down there and back?
