does anyone have an ams radiator? If so, any good? Searching for a Koyo or Howe. The AMS seems to be a good price in comparison. pretty nice looking too

oh, one more question on this.

i have an electric fan kit with the chrome brackets from Zcentre. Any ideas if these will mount onto the ams?

Leave this with me until the morning - I'll have more info when I get back to my office PC.

Regards,

Dan

I have an AMS rad, never had an issue with it. Intact it's probably the only thing on the car that works properly :)

I couldn't give you any comparison on it, I only got it as mine was knackered and there was a favourable exchange rate.

Cheers guys!

Danny, look forward to it. :)

Scott,

I'm sorry for the delay - have been mega busy today :)

I can't personally comment on the AMS radiator as I've never had one on my car but the design seems a good one. Given the current exchange rate it'll work out at about £350.00 including delivery/import duty/VAT.

A Koyo radiator will come in at approximately £440.00 (incl. delivery/import duty/VAT). A HOWE will come in slightly under the Koyo rad @ approx. £425.00.

As an alternative I can offer a DTA performance radiator which is based on a KOYO core (ie 53mm thick) with aluminium end tanks. Cost is £150.00 plus £15.00 shipping. I can also offer you a stainless steel top radiator bracket that runs the full length of the radiator at £45.00 (rrp = £55.00) if ordered at the same time as the radiator.

Radiator is available from UK stock as is the bracket.

Very interested in this Danny. I never realised you sold radiators. You need to get a stock list made. :) I've got a 'things to get' list about a mile long. :D

Do you have any pics?

Do you have intercoolers?

Cheers

I have the AMS radiator and i think it is better quality than the Koyo and thicker (57mm AMS 53mm Koyo).Very pleased with it, especially when i was getting 2 dollars to the pound 16 months ago :D

the AMS has a much higher build quality than the Koyo. i'm running a Koyo and cant fault the performance but, the bottom drain plug snaped, the top breather bolt stripped and the expantion tank tube broke off. all of which were easy to fix but, never the less. if i were to get another rad, it would be an AMS;)

AMS may have better build quality, but it looks like the actual cooling core of the AMS is inferior to the Koyo.

I recently installed an AMS radiator for a customer (his request) and it only cooled slightly better then a 18 year old stock radiator.

After doing some high speed runs the car immediately started to overheat (...it sometimes also had this problem with the 18 year old stock radiator, that's why he wanted a "better" radiator)

To improve the cooling I installed a new fan clutch and cleaned the condensor , but it didn't help much and it still had the overheating problem.

I then ripped out the AMS and tried a koyo radiator and all cooling problems were gone.

this may have been a one off case, but it makes you wonder though...

hmmmmmmm...

interesting stuff. All sounded rosey for a minute there lymon lol. What power was that zed running. I will be looking at around 500bhp so definately want to get the cooling right.

Ditch the Electric fan, especially if its a Zcentre one. its not man enough, and even if you fitted a better one they just cause more issues than its worth.

Yeah, heard this a few times now. :(

i aggree with you about the Zcentre fan but, not with electric one's causing issues.

never had an issue with my electric fan. it runs for around 5 mins at a time in around 10 t0 15 minute intervals, whilst standing on tick over.
