is there anything i need to prepare the engine before storing for long periods to ensure the engine does not sieze?

was thinking of placing her in the garage for next 6- 12 months (maybe a bit longer)

Although it isnt ideal, as long as its in a dry garage it should be ok, I had mine of the road for over a year and just started the engine evey couple of months. Apart from the flat battery it started first time everytime and hasnt missed a beat since.

Years ago a I worked at a garage next to a new car storage compound, it wasnt uncommon for cars back then to sit in the field for a couple of years before being sold as new :).

probably best to ensure your oil is fresh, old oil will have a lot of acid contaminents from the combustion proccess which wont be good for the engine and make sure anti freeze is up to strength, if its too week it speeds up corrosion.

brilliant :)

would it be best if i place the car on jacks aswell?

the garage is a normal house garage so should i also put a blanket of some sort over the car?

last but not least i did an oil change 2 months ago with new sparks. i read somewhere to take spark plugs out and sqirt 10ml of oil in each top.... is that over doing it?

cheers again

Others might dissagree on my comments about parking up cars, it's just my experience and findings over the years. What cars deffinately dont like is being parked in damp conditions, it takes no time for any exposed metal to develop surface rust and alloy components end up with a powdery coating.

Its up to you whether you want to fire oil down the spark plug holes, I wouldnt bother, though it could be good for fumigatting the garage when you first start the engine.

A cover would be handy to help prevent paint damage, somebody is sure to bump against it or drop something on it.

Puting it on stands will help prevent the tyres from develping flat spots.

ok the car is going to go into the garage this week. buying some stands this week.

should i empty the radiator?

should i leave some weight on the suspension to stop it stressing?

how does one go about cheaply leaing their garage warm? i have a plain garage unpowered and worried about winter. I don't mind sending an extention down their however what form of heating could i use that would hold out 24/7 and not cost too much to buy?

cheers all
