riddick has started pulling like a fookin train whilst walking, done the old turn back and make him sit and stay and what not, tried a lot of things in the books but to no avail (he is a stubborn fooker lol), just wondering if anyone has tried a halti harness or halti lead, ive heard mixed reports about it

p.s, the probs i had a few weeks ago have all been sorted, he is now as good as gold

Tried the halti face collar and it was a nightmare he spent the whole time trying to get it off and we could never get it to fit properly over his face. The harness made him pull even more as he could get his whole body weight behind it. In the end we just use a normal collar he still pulls but not as much

looks a bit draconian lol, but looking at the size of bhaccus and the power of riddick it may be needed, im not agianst hard training like some namby pamby fokkers are, these type of dogs are basically killing machines if not trained in the correct manor and i welcome some of the hard methods that some sites give

my mate is in the royal marines and he says some of the most aggresive dogs you can get will be tottaly submissuve within a week of trainig with them lol,

you can now get a halti harness, not sure on what they are like though

are they just an ebay thing mate or can i get one locally, locally being 5 mins from my house lol

Alan, I use a pinch collar too on my GSD which I use for afternoon walk or any longer walks. It might look painfull but the thing is, they soon realise if they pull it hurts (for s split second), if they walk nicely it does nothing. What I did was if Kassy pulled, I would make a sharp "AH" noise and then a quick pull on the lead, now as soon as I say "AH" she knows what happens next if she doesn't come back to my side ;)

If you have a big dog it just gives you control ;)

well after nearly a month, ive finally got him to walk nice, still pulls when he see's certain things, but he now walks by my side or just in front

took me an hour to walk what normally takes us 20 mins of quick walking

just made him sit and wait everytime he pulled, even had comments from the neighbours about how long it took us to get out of the street, yanked on his lead and made him sit and wait till i wanted to go, now when i yank the lead (no double entendre's lol) he hangs back and walks beside me

still stubborn as fook, what would normally take a collie 2 hours to learn, it takes him 2 weeks lol

Halti all the way mate worked on both my rotties and staffie, they dont need it now but if they see a cat and they pull they have a slight tap on the side of theyre rear leg and made to sit before proceeding to walk.

ive tried mate and he nearly ripped his eye out with his duke claw trying to get it off, was a nightmare, even tried leaving it on him whilst in the house so he would get used to it but to no avail lol

he gets a quick knee in the back leg with a command and he now knows the yank on the lead will result in a quick tap to his ass if he dont do as he is told

I used to use a full body harness on my Retriever. It goes around the front legs, and if he pulls on it it restricts his front leg movements.

Worked very well.

tried one of those aswell dave, he ripped the underside of his legs, ive never known a dog to never show pain like riddick, he hates been told off and cowers when he is getting wrong, but give him a clip and he doesnt budge, he got bit on the ear as a puppy and never flinched, stood infront ot the wench and challenged the dog

very hardy he is

tie him to the car, go round the block a few times, then take him for a walk :D

if he didnt like he would rip the bumper off lol

Hey matey put her on a choke chain but u need to keep him guessing where your going, go to a field, start walking in a straight line once he starts pulling yank like fvuck, and start walking the other way a few steps, then yank and turn keep him guessing, a little trick with the choke chain is to raise it higher around the neck, top of the neck behind the ears this is where it hurts the most. i pulled quite hard till her front paws were off the ground, till i heard her choke yes its cruel, now she walks by my side and wont pull, if you need any pointers matey my bro tought police alsations so he knows a few tricks happy to help.

cheers mate, thats what i have been doing, its not cruel to train a big dog like that, its cruel to have them put down cause the owner was too pussy to be the pack leader and let the dog get oput of hand

cheers for the offer though mate, it was more of training ourlass rather than the dog

no, was going to, but i wanted to try the "being the boss" approach again, my mate had one for me if i needed it though, i think as he has just turned one he is actually growing up and taking notice, but at about 9.5 stone (he lost his puppy fat lol) he needs to learn quick before it gets out of hand

cheers for the advice though
