i would have thought it doesnt matter what your actual car is running in wether it be mph or kmph as it would be the spacing out of the clocks that make you realise how fast you are going???

ie kmph the speeds ie 10,20,30,etc etc would all be closer together than it would if the clock was a mph clock.

I dont understand it myself, now when i say my old clocks were out when i was doing say a 100mph my clocks would read say 75-80mph but on my new clocks say im doing about 50mph my clocks would now read something like 80mph.:confused::confused:

try hooking up a sat nav and driving and compare the sat nav speed to the speed on your clocks and see if your actuall speedo is out, as long as you have the correct clocks in the car then it should be right, bit of a wierd one.

Its def out,i was driveing a wee while ago and had the speedo up to 145mhp and i was no way near that speed.I just dont understand it.:headvswal:headvswal

hmmm there has to be a way of reseting it, but i cant help as i dont know, or maybe a faulty sensor ???? im sure someone will be able to shed some light.

Don't help that your clocks only go up to 160 mate, it should read 180 and some have another line after that indicating 190.

So and without checking another set of UK clocks, i would expect a reading of 140 on those is really 110 on standard clocks.

Those are your old clocks?

Your new clocks are standard UK Clocks ?

Do you have an NA or TT, has the gearbox been changed at some point in the past ?

Edited by Yowser

he has US dials on those! If you have UK clocks, you will need to get UK dials for it to be calibrated properly. Problem is UK dials will have the cut out for the bosst gauge as there were no UK na's.

was it a TT box (with TT speed sensor in it) that was fitted ?

Check the revs compared to the speedo.

They are not UK Clocks ! They are Import KPH clocks that somebody has stuck a MPH sticker on.

They are reading in KPH.

I guess you need to speak to him about it.

If you wanted to get them reading correcting then you need a KPH>MPH convertor. Nothing wrong with using these clocks if you get a converter.

The problem with UK clocks on an NA is that they have a boost gauge which ofcourse means you end up with a gauge that does nothing.

Edited by Yowser

I have uk clocks in my na and are fairly accurate with the sat nav, i also have chipped ecu which i think helps.

The boost gauge wont work obviously, but everything else works as it should

Got the right thread now mate...........

After fitting my indiglo dials, i managed to move slightly the MPH arm thing, and it threw the speed out by 20mph. If you take the clocks out, and slightly move the arm to just below O mph, you can feel slight resistance, dont over do it, just a process of trying, mine is out by 2 mph with my sat nav now. As close as i can get it.

Do you no where i can get one of these converters and how much thay are plus where and how do i fit it,is there any previous freds about this???

I have Jap clocks with the mph sticker over the top. The convertor is really easy to wire in. Not sure where you can get them from though. Its just a matter of clipping a few wires behind the dash then wiring a small black box in place, all the wires are labeled/colour coded.

EDIT: Plus the grey wire which is supposed to go from the convertor to the ECU has been clipped off on mine, so the ECU reading goes straight from my Speed Sensor from what i can gather.

EDIT2:

Here is a pic from when I ripped mine out for no apparent reason, 3 wires, Signal In, Signal out and 12v which you can get from your clocks.

You can find them on Ebay and Zcentre also sell them.

You can find them for half that price on ebay though, and you may find somebody has one lieing around if you put a thread up in wanted.

Not sure if this will help or confuse the problem, this is the converter that came out of mine when I changed to UK clocks, it has 5 wires coming from it and I have no wiring diagram.

HI there thanks for the respons,so is this the converter to change khp to mph,if so pm me how much you want for it.

And is there anyone who can tell me or even better show where the wiring goes.any help would be truely appreciated.:smash:

Groover may be the best person to try and sort this out, this picture is in the faq section. Yes it is for converting KPH to MPH, I would be willing to post it up to you to see if it solves your problem first, if it does we can sort something from there.
