You can get one from me.

I'll do you one at trade price.

17" = £110.00 +VAT +Delivery I think.

how much for a p4 1300 and is it possible which i dont think it is to replace my p3 850 and still use the p4 on the old motherboard

i believe this all depends on the socket type. PIII uses socket 1 (slot 1) in replace of the old socket 7 - not sure about the P4.

If you do replace how much would you want for the PIII 850?

currently using a PIII 450

cheers

The P4 uses a different density socket 492PGA I think. Also it has different power requirements, which requires different connectors on the PSU. Basically no it wont fit your motherboard. Also from recent benchmarks the P4 isn't all its cracked upto be.

P4 stuff is very expensive.

You could get an AMD Athlon far cheaper. We've not had any problems with them but some people like the peace of mind of Intel.

ah well looks like i'll wait 6 months for them to come down in price a bit as its only the motherboard and chip im after i got the dogs danglies of everything else. i will never use an amd/athlon ever again after my nightmare with three dodgy ones to be honest the 850 is more than enough for anything at the moment but imagine the games they'll be making for the gig pc's

Place called Fiche&chips will do a complete 2nd hand internet ready pentium PC system for £199. Upgrade to 17" monitor is about £50. Maybe they can help? 0800 0525088

buy a amd thunderbird u know u want to thats what i did any way and build it yourself cos its alot cheaper

why has this turned into a conversastion other than getting me my monitor, lol

tooly i have only ever used athlon after i did comparison tests against my friend with a pentium and my 750mhz athlon absolutly demolished his 800mhz p111, in sysmark tests.

"Intel is expected to slash its high-end processor prices by as much as 50% this month, AMD is likely to follow suit, as it has done previously"

all sounds good to me.
