Driving for 30 years never involved in a car accident went out this evening to get petrol and stoped at traffic lights, it was then I seen my worst nightmare coming behind me a teenager in a renault clio flying towards me:shock: I knew what was coming next, my son was in the zed with me told him to hold on then the noise of tyres squealing on the road a lot of blue smoke then bang o/s rear corner takes the impact:mad:out jumps a very shocked (camp)teenager shaking like a leaf and already on the phone to his mum. Well what can you do we were both ok so got out looked at my poor zed:cry:and all I can hear is do you want to exchange insurance details and mummy whats my insurance company. So to cut a long story short I brought him up to my house give him a cup of tea and exchanged details I was just glad no one was hurt so managed to get him calmed down and of he went back to his mum.But whats going to happen to my zed the rear bumper absorbed most of the impact but there is a big dent in the rear panel the zost is hanging low what will the asseser say Iam now a bit woried took some picks what do you think

Cheers Pete but been in a few real difficult situations that put things like this in perspective;)

Gutted for you mate but it does not look terminal. Mine was bad but it is now back on the road albeit looking very different. It involved having the front chopped and a new front end welded on. The bodyshop made a good job, I am well pleased.

sorry to hear about you situation, but from previouse experiance the insurance company will only write it off if the damage is over 40% of the value of the car! eg i car is worth £1000 they will repair it up to around £400 quid after that it will be a write off, but thats not all bad as you then get the option to buy the car back at a very low price for example; my VW Passat got wrote off & they paid out £6900 & said if i wanted to buy it back it would cost £900! so if this happens to you i would buy back & get repaires done at a local bodyshop as the insurance registerd bodyshops never cut corners & price up with NEW parts ect making there quotes high! ...just a thought but i hope it all pans out ok for you whatever happens.

Maybe best to let it get written off, I sent loads of good ads to them and got 5k for mine:) Paid £2400 for it originally, cost me £1200 to get it pulled and resprayed and £800 to buy it back....so got my money back plus more, and a full respray plus 3k for whiplash each for dave and I...sorted...I owe my zed loads, lol and its my baby and will keep her for many yrs to come...:D

Well the zed went into the body shop last night so they could start work on it this morning also two new stainless steel cat back exhausts have been ordered to replace my bent standered nissan exhausts so cant wait to get it back all fixed and roaring to go. Will keep a progress report going and take some picks to let you know how its coming on, I feel like a child waiting for Christmass lol.

So wasn't written off then? Or have you had to buy it back? Either way, great news that it's getting all sorted.

is that the car or yourself gary;)only joking drunk in amsterdam

Bad luck mate.

Always the short journeys isn’t it..!!!

Sound like you handle the situation very well. Pat on the back for you.

Hope you get it sorted.
