Hello!

After a bit of help! In the last week or so the z has been running a bit iffy.

From start up, after about 2 minutes of driving, it will start to struggle at low revs, juddering a bit. At this point, it runs fine if I stay about 2,500rpm.

However, after about 5 minutes of it having a mare, all is well again, and it does not struggle at low revs. Until next time I go for a drive.

Any ideas what could be causing this? I've just changed the spark plugs and air filters yesterday to see if that made any different, but no. Only thing I did notice is the "mesh" on the MAF has seen better days, and needs replacing. Could this be the problem?

Thank you muchly much!

Possibly MAF problems, although nothing to do with the mesh, that has no affect. You can remove that if your concerned about it coming of and entering the intake.

Typical MAF fault symptoms are that it wont allow you to rev past 2500-3000rpm.

If it sounds "lumpy" at idle and through the rpm range, then you may be experiencing a missfire from 1 or more cylinders due to PTU, wiring, coilpack connectors, injector connectors..etc

It's fine at idle, only while accelerating.

I'll sort another maf and see if that makes a difference. Thanks!

Agrre with Legrath, check and clean connections on MAF, small file and some contact cleaner such as ambersol.

Also if the element (looks like thin fuse wire) in the MAF is dirty or damp will causing lumpy issues, i cleaned mine with contact cleaner,

If you have aftermarket cone filter or similar, see if dirty too.

After removing filter look up at sun through it, if its clogged, then can be cleaned with K&N filter cleaner. Makes a difference.

If still running poo, then its onto cleaning and checking, coil packs, plugs, injectors, ptu, cas etc etc.

Process of elimination,

Cheers for your advice Stu! Will give that all a try after I give the MAF idea a look over. Fingers crossed it's just that.

Bloody car. Haven't had it 3 months yet and spunked 2k on it so far just to get it running haha.

Ahhh I already love it. Being broken makes it more enjoable, in a werid way!

Hi Ruan

My 2001 Maxima is doing the same thing. I've just bought a new NDS tool so if I find anything I'll let you know. Exact same fault, start the car and all is well at idle. Use light throttle and it farts about. Give it a boot full of throttle and shes away. Only does it when it's cold. My initial thought was TPS but will check it out in the weekend ........ but then if I let it idle and warm up the problem goes away so it can't be the TPS ....... or could it ....... hmmmm

i got a good maff here you can try to see if thats the problem and perhaps look over it at same time.
