Hello again, I say again as I joined this site just over 2 years ago when I was thinking of buying A 300 then. In the end I bought a Celica GT4 ST205 which is now over 300bhp, trouble is I want more power and it's just not worth the money to get it IMO so I think it's time to Upgrade :D

I've had a look through the buyers guide etc and I'm going round taking cars for drives ATM just to get a feel for the good ones from the bad ones so to speak. Got to sell my four yet but I'm in no rush so thought I'd start hanging out here and learn a bit about the car I'm planning to buy.

I'm after a SWB TT manual Targa, which as far as I can work out are rare as hens teeth, but I would settle for a LWB one if the condition/price was right. Any way enough waffle, If i see your stand at Japshow, I'll be sure to come over and say hello.

i would iamgine 0-80 the gt4 will be as quick as a zed, but once over that im sure it would be a different kettle of fish so to speak

Maybe? Trouble is i don't want to be taking a "backwards step" in terms of performance. Granted I'll be giving up the handling benefits of 4WD and that I accept, but if both cars with the same mods (air filter, exhaust, boost controller) will make around 330BHP 300ft/lb torque, then I'm not sure I can justify the change.

I love the look of both cars, for different reasons, and the Zed is much more refined to drive, much smoother but it's not as exciting. Hopefully I'll get to see a good one in the near future as even i know it's not really fair to compare a good GT4 to a bad example of any given car really.

the problem you have is that your comparing a tuned gt4 to a stock zed. or so it seems

Just wait for the RR day and you will know for certain.

and my zed needs some tlc in the bodywork department too, But it shore goes :)

my car has a blitz air filter, decatt, chipped ecu, and a lightened and balanced flywheel, also a stainless exhaust

its got 348 FWHP and 373ft/lb, thats quite a bit for not a lot

that without a boost controller?

thats got past the 330 from a gt4 already without the boost controller then and like i said with a boost controller your looking at 400fwhp

At the end of the day you have a 4sec car to 60. so with that amount of acceleration anything realy will be a stepdown unless you went for an enzo lol!!!

The zx isnt a 1/4mile car or a 0-60 due to traction. You can get these to spin in 3rd if you push hard enough.. The zx can do what the four can do easly. then over 80mph the zx will be well on its way without the stress on the engine. (stock or stock)

You can get the zx to 400hp easy. without internal mods. the yanks run a few over 500hp on stock internals but we know how crazy the yanks are

The yanks are indeed a bit mental :) well as a bit off an experiment on my way to work last night I turned the boost controller off in the four which effectively made it 0.7 bar in all gears. It then felt very similar to a 300 in terms of performance, so i guess a boost controller combined with similar mods and the bigger displacement would make the 300 "faster" I do agree that the four would be quicker off the line, but the 300 would have the legs in the long run.

Still not been put off buying a 300 yet, just need to find a good one to experience the potential if you get what I mean.

Something's not right there. The GT-Four is near TT pace under 80mph and would easily kill a NA Z.

0-60 is a good second to a second and a half quicker than the NA Z. They have more power, lighter and 4wd grip.

we are going to put this to a test at the weekend on a nice quite road near us.

Let me know how that goes ;) Well I've pretty much decided to sell the four and get a 300. If it don't work out i can just buy another four. Do you think its a bad idea that i already have a shopping list from the Zedcentre?

So did you do your little test the other weekend? my car put a 14.2 standing 1/4 at japshow, the weather was very hot on the sunday so i was only running around 1bar boost.

On another not, have pretty much secured a 300, got to transfer a deposit tomorrow then pay the balance when I've sold my car :)

Is that an N/A like riobensons though? as i believe he said his N/A could outrun a four. I don't doubt for a second a tuned TT could run them times though.

sorry, but you must be subscribed to sell on these forum's

Sorry :o
