Looks like they are getting a bit more fussy on exhausts.

Failed for being "obviously far in excess of what would be considered normal for a car fitted with a similar standard silencer" LOL

The car is very loud but it's been through 4 MOT's like this before.

It's a custom made stainless system with empty back boxes with no baffles :slap:

Been told I just need to quieten it down temporarily and he'll pass it.

Any ideas what I can do?

£54 ??? I only paid £44 two weeks ago, mine passed with a import sized plate on the front.

Yeah I thought it was £44 and I was getting conned so I checked online:

Must have gone up very recently :(

I've added the rest of the failure items above.

Passed first time in the last 2 or 3 years and none of these things are new recently apart from possibly the brake hoses, rusty steering joint and sill but I have my doubts about those actually being a problem.

must say all this talk of getting passes with problems, i hope no-one here works for vosa lol

I work for vosa.Everytime i do an mot im working for them.Thats how they see it.Those failures are shit i must say.If a car has 4 washer jets and one isnt working i wouldnt fail it.The test asks for sufficient water on the screen.it doesnt specify that all jets must work. Some of those failures are horse shit in my opinion.Id complain but dont carry out any repairs if you do.I know for a fact that as a tester you get in more trouble for incorrectly failing items than incorrectly passing them. The critera is black and white to make it easy. What it doesnt allow for is idiots that dont know how to apply the testers manual.

If you really wanna piss matey off over encroaching items into zone a.Fit smaller wiper blades and he cant do a thing about it.Zone A is the wipers swept area.smaller wipers smaller swept area ;).

Since when did the number plate come into the MOT. My understanding even with the new rules on size, it was still up to the discretion of the police to inforce. ie: some imports are fitted with smaller plates. Airflow to FMIC and such. My plate is reg size but a stick on. Passed MOT. Still to find out about discretion from the police.

Hi all i have had this prob before and this was 3 year ago but i do not now i changed the place where i take my cars for mot and they pass it and it was 99db they are been like this for some time it must be getting bad
