good afternoon, can anybody help ??

I bought a set of standard wheels which have turned out to be jap spec , and my 92 TT uk spec. which are slightly less wide at 225 not 245, is this the only difference and is there any reason not to run the jap spec rears on a uk spec car ....??

ideally i would like to have the uk spec wheels on the rear as we are driving to le mans on wednesday next week for the 24 hour.

does anybody know where i might find a standard uk spec rear rim i think its size 245/50/r16, any help would be much appriciated??

this is the last thing after a 6 mouths rebuild can wait to unleash the beast again, ready for the summer.

Thanks in advance

Tony

There is no problem running these wheels, for what ever reason Nissan put 8.5 inch rims on UK cars that's why they run the wider tires.

Nissan specced the "European cars" to have 8.5" wide wheels and 245/45-16 tyres to cope with the anticipated sustained high speed driving on Autobahns and Motorways in contast to use in Japan where lower speed urban/suburban driving was envisaged.

The increase in contact area is 8.8%. Whether this is significant or not is not for me to say.

A corresponding power increase would be 25bhp.

From an insurance point of view it colud be argued that running a 225 section tyre on a UK car would effectively be using a "sub standard tyre"

i really wouldn`t skimp on suspension, plus your insurance would be void if it failed n you lost control
