I am in the process of selling my Zed but three faults are making this difficult. The third of these is with the MILEOMETER/ODOMETER.

They were both working OK when I bought the car three years ago but about 18 months ago they both stopped working for no apparent reason. I had a look at them when I removed the clock cluster a year or so ago but could see no obvious reason why they had stopped working.

CAN ANYONE ADVISE WHAT THE CAUSE/REMEDY FOR THIS PROBLEM MIGHT BE?

Regards - Dave

You seem to be having alot of problems with your dials have you tried a new cluster??

Mine's a series 4 Zed and replacement clusters are extremely rare!

gutted. have you tried yahoo japan auction. or american ebay for a set??

I bought an American clock cluster but they're not series 4 so are no good for me!

Have you opened them up?? i know the connectors are different on the rear but are the internals the same??

Just a thought to swap them over

Is it your speed sensor mate i had the same problem with mine.

Where is the speed sensor....is there any way of checking if it's working without removing it?

its on the gearbox dave, at the rear, think they only have them on the auto though. when mine went the speedo guage was tempramentle and the steering was light then hard. changed my clocks twice before finding out it was this.

Worth checking, as its plastic and known to break if the gearbox hasn't been removed carefully.

Both Manual and Auto have them.

Did you take the needles off of the clocks, this will balls the gauges up I think.

Yes I took all the needles off as I planned to replace the dials but the new ones wouldn't fit. I refitted all the needles and the other gauges work OK but not the temperature gauge!

I had the same problem Dave. I expected it to be the usual Zed dirty/sticking odometer problem but it turned out to be the actual motor. I had to replace it, and yes, they're rarer than rocking horse doo-doo!!
