I absolutely loved it.

Cant believe how much grip was available today. It was a very hot day however so engine heat keep creeeping up I kept it on stock boost 10psi.... brakes got a little hot too but they worked very well, i think the pad im using is the weak spot as it was glazing the disc i think, but they still held out better than ever.

All in all it was a good day.

The cars with slicks were very quick and i had no chance round the corners with them. My tyres held out better than expected and got quite hot and sticky im thinking about buying some spare wheels for track days and running semi slicks :D

forward vid to 2:20 alot of waiting around sorry :(

If anyone is interested in coming along next time then we can make it a meet and maybe gather a few cars together. Even if you would like to watch then come along. Its very organised at brands hatch and the drivers are very considerate. Anyone caught doing something wrong is taken off straight away and that includes excessive tyre squeel, drifting, dangerous driving and overtaking on the wrong side.

I paid £120 for the day which included 2 hours open pit lane.

£10 for passengers

full tank of fuel was enough as i went out for 10 mins at a time.

signed on at 4pm

briefing was at 4:30pm

siting laps started at bout 5:30 and from there on it was all go till 8pm

So youl have plenty of time to learn the track and grow your confidence.

Just gauging some interest at the mo as to who would be interested.

that ace mate, I took my old one around Rockingham. Its quite an experience and I reckon a lot more fun in your own car rather than a ferrari experience etc, as you know the car and you can push it to the limits that you know.

That's great stuff mate, sounds like a good day out :D

Soon as the V8's finished and bedded in you can count me in!

Il count you both in then. :D

Its probably the best thing ive done in my zed so far.

A very good track to gain some confidence and experience as its small but has most types of corners so youl learn the track in a few laps, if that makes sense.

There were also free caterham rides going which anyone could have a go in.

Mate, that looks awesome! Did you change your tyres before hand? I was thinking about getting into this and having a spare set of wheels but would you get 4 wheels and tyres in a Z?

Where abouts in London are you? maybe I could come along next time?

my tyres held out well, theres still loads of tread left see pic above.

You have to be able to make the tyres last by not making the car understeer excessively which is easily done and just results in loads of tyre squeel and wear, the marshalls will flag you off if your making the tyres squeel anyway.

I think youl fit four wheels and tyres in a 2+2 anyhow :D

heres a link to most of the track days available in the uk.....

you say the marshalls will take you off the track if you get tire squeel??? does this mean your not able to give it some stick??? but looks like fun anyway:)

excessive tyre squeel like when your deliberatley being a knob understeering round every corner lol. they will take u off and have a quiet word with you then let ya get back out.

  • Author
fair enough. so no kicking the ass out for a laugh then. lol. but looks awsome mate. if my zed is still alive at the next one you attend please count me in.:)

Let us know yassa.

so what was the top speed you got upto then jimmy.

Theres hardly any long straights, the only bit youl get any speed is past the pits, prob about 100-110 if that. Then round paddock bend which im still to master. Got to try brake as late as poss there but its a bit scary lol.

  • Author

buy them now now now :D

Work permitting, i will be up for this, love a track day/session. Don't matter how fast you go, just means no one is coming the other way, towards you, no one is gonna pull out on you, and you can take the fast driving line around the corners.
